School Captains For 2014 Over the last month the Year 5 students have been busy preparing for all the important roles in Year 6 in 2014. To stand for election of School Captain and Vice Captain in 2014, students were required to place their name for nomination and another student then second the nomination. The student
was then required to take the nomination form home to be approved by a parent or care giver. On Tuesday 19th the nominated students delivered a speech to the children from Year 2 to 6. Congratulations to our 2014 Captains; Rose Duncan and Blair MacLachlan, Vice Captains; Brooke Gavan and Zac Fleming. I am looking forward as school captain in 2014, helping all students at Inverell Public School and also representing the school at lots of important events through out the year. By Rose Duncan What I’m looking forward to doing as school captain for 2014 is running the assembly and helping students and teachers. By Blair MacLachlan The sports captain, canteen monitors, bus monitors and library monitors will be finalised in the coming weeks. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated for a role in 2014.

Students in Year 6 spent a full day transition on
Wednesday 20th at either Inverell High School
or Macintyre High School in which the student
will attend next year. At Macintyre High, students
had a taste of what to expect in Year7 –
participating in Lote (language other than
English), PE (physical education), Agriculture, Art
and Science. At Macintyre High the children then
enjoyed a sausage sizzle for lunch. The students
really enjoyed their day at High School.
CANTEEN ROSTER
Piccaninni Dreaming Piccaninni Dreaming is an interactive performance about contemporary Indigenous Australia for Primary School students
grades 1-5. Piccaninni Dreaming follows ‘Kool Kookas’ who learns about what it is to be an Indigenous Australian through his relationship with Uncle Roger. The play invites audience to dance, sing, have fun and learn about Indigenous Australian culture today. This production captures the tension between contemporary urban
Aboriginal culture and text book stereotypes of Australian Indigenous heritage. This allows us to understand that the past is important to the present. The production ran for 40 minutes and was a great learning experience for all children of all cultures. The professional presentation was engaging to the students and enjoyable for all involved.
