On Saturday, July 23, 2011, Fannie ended the trials &tlttaa~ &;deF 0/~,y/-tOe

and tribulations of this world and transcended to be "Don't tell God how big your mountain is.... tell your with the Lord. All that knew her knows that she will

mountain how big your God is!!!!" be truly missed. Prelude

Fannie Mae Thomas Hayes was born on May 8, 1936. She was the second of two children born to

Tillman and Ruby C. Hackard in Texarkana, Texas.

Fannie was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma

Jean Hackard, at an early age.

Fa1U1ie and her family later moved to Milwaukee,

Wisconsin where she confessed Christ at an early age

and joined a church there. In later years, she met

and married Mr. James Thomas, who preceded her in death, and to this union there were no children born.

Many years later, she married Mr. Lawrence A.

Hayes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and relocated to the

Birmingham area.

In Bim1ingham, Fannie joined the church family of

New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of

Reverend Herman Stone and became a member of

the church's Mass Choir. Also she worked in the Food Pantry and remained a faithful servant until her

health began to fail.

As a nurse, Fannie worked at Brookwood Medical

Center until her retirement in August of 1998. She

tmly enjoyed the nursing profession and received the "Clinical Nurse of the Year" Award in that year. She

was well 10ved.. .If it was your birthday or your

anniversary, she would send you a card or call and sing you a song; she never forgot.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Mr. Lawrence A. Hayes ofAtlantic City, New Jersey, Mr. Glen Wash of

Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Georgiana Alston of

Washington, D.C., Mrs. Beverly Hutchinson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mr. Judson Pickard of

Cincinnati, Ohio; special god sisters, Ms. Belinda

Turner and Mrs. Mary E. Johnson of Binningham,

Alabama; a very dear friend, Mrs. Susie Phillips; god son, Mr. Mickey Cade (Betty); and a whole host of

extended family members and friends.
