2019 President
With all of the rain it hardly it hardly seemed like we had a summer. I know everyone has been busy! The membership committee is working on some exciting things for this year’s Membership Drives, so be sure to recruit. September is triple SPIKE month through the National Associa-tion of Home Builders, in addition to this there are some great opportunities for prizes and recognition. Be sure to
read the newsletter to check out all of the upcoming drives. If you recruit a new Builder or Associate member in September, you will receive triple re-cruitment points! Bring a new Associ-ate or Builder member and join us at the new member recruitment event on September 5 at Minerva’s. For more information, please contact the office.
On October 10 we will be holding our Annual Gold Key Fundraiser Sup-per. We are honored to have special guest Dean Mon, NAHB’s 2019 First Vice Chairman of the Board joining us at this year’s event. Dean is a New Jersey-based builder and developer with more than 30 years of experience in the home building industry. Mon is president of the D.R. Mon Group, Inc., which specializes in the devel-opment and construction of green urban living projects throughout New Jersey. The Gold Key Fundraiser will be held in the private dining area of
Minerva’s at 5:30 p.m. on October 10. You must RSVP to attend this event! If you are interested in attend-ing this event, please call Executive Director Cheryl Bettmeng at the BHHBA office 605-348-7850 (see page 9 for details). Build-PAC is an important part of the home builder associations at the state local and national level. Build-PAC is many voices united as one at the state, local and national lever. The more members who support Build-PAC the stronger housing’s voice is in the political process not only at the state and local level, but on a bigger level Build-PAC is our voice on Capitol Hill! Join us on October 10 and find out more about Build-PAC and how you can support a part of the industry that makes a difference in your busi-ness. Be a part of many voices united as one!

I hope everyone is enjoying what’s left of their summer. I have been busy working on the 2020 Member-ship Directory and working on up-dating member information. Please make sure and take the time to let us know if your contact information has changed in the last year.
Our August Family Picnic Social which was held at Reptile Gardens this year was a great success. It was well attended, with families being able to watch all three shows and enjoy a wonderful dinner prepared and catered by Job Corp!
Don’t miss your chance to advertise in the Fall POH Event Guidebook; the ad deadline is already approach-ing. Now is your opportunity to get your message in front of thousands of prospective and current homeown-ers, as well as contractors and daydreamers.

Serving the Construction Industry and the Public of the Greater Black Hills Area
July 29, 2019 Dear CIC/BHHBA Member: Please accept our invitation to participate in the Construction Industry Center/ B.H. Home Builders Association (CIC/BHHBA) sponsored surplus materials and equipment auction. The auction will be held Saturday, September 21, at the Soule’ Building, Central States Fairgrounds in Rapid City, SD. Martin Jurisch has been hired to handle the auction, which will be promoted through the Rapid City Journal, as well as smaller newspapers in the Northern and Southern Hills area, and through the distribution of posters and flyers. This is the twenty-seventh year for the jointly sponsored event, which has become extremely popular with the general public as well as the farm and ranch community. There is no limit to the number, size or type of item consigned. This is an excellent time to clean out your garage, shop, storeroom or warehouse. Let your inventory overstock, salvage materials, surplus tools or equipment, excess vehicles, etc., earn you $$$ instead of gathering dust. Eighty percent (80%) is returned to you as the consignor. There is an eighty-five percent (85%) return on single item sales of $5,000 - $10,000 and ninety percent (90%) on single item sales of $10,000+. Contact Beverly Wittmeier at the Construction Industry Center, 343-5252, with any questions or for further details. Call today to receive your consignor number! Sincerely,
Beverly Wittmeier Beverly Wittmeier Executive Director
