Rector’s Reflections
That’s what we do: we love in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ and we share that love to all we meet and know. We grow our
own spirituality, our connection with God, our growth in faith, AND we
grow the Church by sharing the Good News of Jesus. We serve. We go
out into the world proclaiming the love and compassion of Jesus Christ
in a wide variety of ways, feeding the poor, caring for the lost and
providing solace for those in need of it. Really, it’s quite simple and like
many simple things, it’s also quite profound. It’s our life, together and
individually. Praise to God!
This church is our home, the place we come to be fed and cared for. We,
in turn, go out to feed and care for this world in real and significant
ways. Your pledge allows us to continue in this work; we quite simply
cannot do it without you. As we get ready to wind up our annual pledge
drive, I once again ask you to consider your financial support of this
wonderful place. Be generous, be cheerful about it (as St. Paul says),
and most of all, join me in being thankful for this home, Church of the
Holy Trinity in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The church will be open from 8 am until 6 pm, with prayer services
throughout the day. Join us for any part of this day of silence and prayer during this
noisy campaign season, and please feel free to invite your friends and family. Let
us pray for this nation together.

Holy Trinity Book Review Wow, God by Sister Francis Clare
New Leaf Press, 1975 Paperback 189 pp. Reduced price: $8.95
After 25 years of service as a Catholic nun, Sister Francis Clare became deeply discouraged. When she
came to the point of leaving the sisterhood, she attended a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Convention
where, after hearing a talk on Catholic Pentecostals, she became baptized in the Holy Spirit and emerged a
totally new person, taking up the charismatic, even speaking in tongues.
Once again happy, and still a Catholic nun, she travels much, working with people of all denominations, healing
and bringing people closer to God.
Yes, I would say that Wow, God is quite a “Wow!” of a read. ~ Reviewed by Marilyn Dorf
Update on the Exercise Class
August was our 8th
anniversary at Holy Trinity! Exercise class is a blessing for all
of us. Thank you for the wonderful facilities! We continue to contribute money

lovely and we are maintaining our mobility and flexibility! An “offshoot’ of
exercise class meets at Grata for tacos. They are taking a field trip back east to see
the fall colors! Feel free to join us, any time! Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays, 9:30 to 11a.m. Contact me if you have questions:
[email protected] or 402-486-3259.
Barcodes, UPCs & Box Tops: Oh, My! Please continue to collect and trim “Best Choice” brand
barcodes, “Box Tops for Education”, and “Labels For
Education”. We are collecting them for Clinton Elementary School and receive money for each label and top
collected. Many thanks from St. Elizabeth Guild. NOTE: Please collet and trim the entire label/box top as we
won’t get credit for partial pieces. Please see the collection boxes in the foyer for examples.
New 2017 Calendars Wanted Is your mailbox full of free calendars this year? St. Elizabeth Guild is collecting 2016
calendars to give to The People’s City Mission again this year. The calendars are given at
Christmas-time as a gift for their homeless clients. So instead of throwing away those
extra calendars, bring them to church and help make someone’s day a little brighter! A
collection box will be in the Foyer through Sunday, December 11.
St. Monica's Elves Thanks to all of you who donated items from your summer vacation travels.
We especially need “treats” like lipstick, perfume samples, etc. We will
continue to accept items for Christmas Outreach through the end of
November. For health/safety reasons, only un-expired and un-opened
items will be accepted. Questions? Call Linda Cumming, 402-488-8556.
