People who believe and belong — The Kingdom of God is where you are
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE
So Pilate said to him, “Then you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say I am a king.
For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.
Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protec-
tion against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God
rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O Prince of the heav-

evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

Christ the King
When we were little children, we were given many exam-
ples of kings, mostly in fairy tales. These were usually red-
robed gentlemen who either ruled with an iron fist or spent
most of their time trying to marry off their beautiful daugh-
ters. As we grew, we learned of kings who constantly bat-
tled neighboring kings for territorial conquests. None of
those kings seems to coincide with what we are taught
about the greatest one of all, Christ the King. Where others
lead by authoritarian rule, our King leads us by serving,
and by giving us his greatest treasure, love. How can we
now define king any other way?
We are nearly to Advent, the time in which we all pause
and celebrate the period of waiting for a coming Savior, a
king for all the people. Today is the last Sunday of the li-
turgical calendar, and is the feast of Christ the King. In to-
day's reading, Pilate repeatedly asks Jesus if he is king of
the Jews. His answer? "You say I am a king." In the foot-
notes to the New American Bible, it says that this is a
"reluctant affirmative" at best. In other words, Jesus proba-
bly felt Pilate would never understand the type of king Je-
sus was; it was best to answer with a non-answer.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that we,
the people of God, share in the royal office
of Christ. In his kingship, he draws all of us to him, asking
us to reign as he did, in service to others (CCC 786). The
people of the time of Jesus' earthly life had heard of a com-
ing king and savior for many generations; their own experi-
ence with kings led them to believe their king would be a
mighty ruler as well. But this King of Kings, the greatest of
all, spoke softly, served others, showed compassion for all,
and asked only for love in return.
PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
God of Love, You show your favor for us and grace us
through baptism. Bless us with the courage to carry out the
mission of Jesus. Grant us open and generous hearts to see
the needs of others and to respond with compassion. May the
Church be blest with women and men who are dedicated to
You through marriage, the single life, the diaconate,
priesthood, and the consecrated life.
It is in Christ and through Christ that we offer ourselves to
You now and forever.
Amen.
Amen

On this, our national day of Thanksgiving,
we turn all our thoughts to you,
from whom all blessings flow.
Bless all our work, our friends, and our families
both near and far. We humbly ask for the ability to
continue our work for your kingdom and the ability to
gather freely to worship you without fear.
We ask you to give our years ahead your

Cuando me quedé a solas con la Santísima Vir-
gen, me instruyó sobre la vida interior. Me dijo:
La verdadera grandeza del alma consiste en am-
ar a Dios y humillarse en su presencia, olvidarse por completo a si mismo y tenerse por nada, porque el Señor es grande, pero se complace
sólo en los humildes mientras rechaza siempre a los soberbios.
When I was left alone with the Blessed Virgin,
She instructed me concerning the interior life.
She said, The soul’s true greatness is in loving
God and in humbling oneself in His presence, completely forgetting oneself and believing oneself to be nothing, because the Lord is
great, but He is well-pleased only with the humble, He always opposes the proud.
Our Stephen Ministers Are Ready to Care for You!
We all go through times in our life when we
could benefit from a little extra care and atten-
tion. Especially during the holidays things may
seem so overwhelming. Friends and family are
gathering, you have so much to do, and all you
can feel is lonely and discouraged. You won-
der if you'll ever feel joy again. You wish someone would give
you a little extra care and attention, someone would listen to you
and not judge you.
That’s what Stephen Ministers are for. Stephen Ministers are
members of Holy Trinity who have been trained to provide con-
fidential, one-to-one, Christian care to people who are going
through a difficult time. Men are matched to men and women to
women. They will listen, care, encourage, pray with and for you,
and provide weekly support for you as long as your need per-
sists.
If you would like to learn more about Stephen Ministry, talk
with one of our Stephen Leaders:
Jerry Krimbill, 392-0602 or Pam Hughes, 394-5723
or email Pam at [email protected].
Our Stephen Ministers are ready to bring God's love and care
into your life!
May you have a Blessed Thanksgiving.

the month after my divorce was filed. The emotional pain was so
overwhelming it paralyzed me. I couldn't think clearly, and getting
through the day doing even just basic tasks, like brushing my teeth
or getting dressed, took every ounce of energy I could muster.
I was right, a death had occurred--the death of my marriage. What I
did not realize in that tearful moment was that I was in a full-blown
grief cycle. I came to learn that grief is a very important part of heal-
ing from divorce. The end of a marriage must be grieved in very
much the same way as the death of a loved one. If the grieving pro-
cess is not embraced, it will delay, or even stall, the healing process.
This can cause many long-term emotional (and even physical) prob-
lems. To make sure you fully recover from your divorce, and to
prevent it from anchoring you in your pa st, you must grieve.
There are five phases to the grief cycle: shock/denial, anger, depres-
sion/detachment, bargaining, and acceptance. To reach acceptance,
which is the gateway to healing and moving forward after divorce, it
is important to work through each phase. It is not uncommon to
experience the phases out-of-order. For example, you might experi-
ence the anger phase before you experience the shock that comes
with the reality of divorce. Because grieving is a process, it has a
beginning, a middle, and an end. The good news is that grieving,
when embraced, does have an end. While it may feel like life after
divorce will be forever filled with sadness, anger, and despair, by
understanding that grief is a cycle, we can look forward in hope to it
ending.
Try to embrace your grieving much like you would embrace physi-
cal therapy. Cooperate fully with the process and endure the pain,
knowing that it is necessary to fully healing and resuming a normal
life after divorce.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Holy Trinity Altar Guild Needs More Handmaids of the Lord
The Altar Guild needs more parishioners to ensure that the Holy Trinity masses and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel are
“pleasing in His eyes”. Help is needed and the Altar Guild may be your ministry. The Altar Guild cleans and washes
over 90 communion linens every week. We ensure the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, the main Altar, the offertory table,
and the credence table is dressed with clean linens. Help washing the communion vessels and ensuring the Sanctuary candle is full dur-
ing adoration times are other duties. We have also added the duties of decorating the Church and Altar for liturgical seasons and special
Masses. “Do not be afraid”
Our Altar Guild coordinator will instruct and answer any questions you may have.

“I said a prayer for you today”.
“I said a prayer for you today,
And know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart Although He
spoke no word.
I didn’t ask for wealth or fame,
I knew you wouldn’t mind,
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind. I asked that He’d be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share the way.
I asked for happiness for you
In all thing great and small
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.”
From Renew, 1990-95.
“ Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Heal-er of the sick, we turn to You in this time of
illness. O dearest Comforter of the trou-
bled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with
Your gentile love, and grant us the grace
and strength to accept this burden. Dear
God, we place our worries in Your hands. We place our sick under Your care and
humbly ask that You restore Your servant to
health again. Above all, grant us the grace
to acknowledge Your will and know that
whatever You do, You do for the love of us.” Amen.
Commentary:
When you measure the time it takes to
say these two prayers and maybe the Lord’s
Prayer, it’s less than two minutes. But mul-
tiply that by about 4,000 parishioners and
you’ve got something. You are a mighty
force for good. You’d think there might be
a small miracle in there somewhere. Look
what Jesus did as he walked along and
heard someone ask for mercy. Well, He’s
listening now and always. So maybe within
this week, we could all say these prayers for
those we love and those who are touched by
cancer.
Do you look around for small miracles?
Not that this is a sermon or anything, but
just asking… At Fatima and Lourdes there
are thousands of crutches, canes and other
aids that formerly crippled and disabled
faithful left there in testament to their heal-
ing faith and that of those who loved them.
Do you wonder about the little miracles
happening to each other? What would one
look like? We know that modern medicine
does wondrous things. We know that the
faithful send thousands of prayers asking for
comfort, cures, and peace. Do you believe
that there are miracles in there, somewhere?
Surely, the faith that enticed, if that’s the
right word, Jesus to cure the sick he
touched, is the same faith you have when
you pray. So, I’m just saying…
Anyhow, all this seems to tie us together.
It’s all about the Mystical Body of Christ -
simple concept really, our faith multiplies
because we are one body in Christ.
Your being holy always works for good
(X 4,0000 +). Its not just a matter of num-
bers, but I’m just saying… Think about it.
I’m sure some theologian might put the ki-
bosh on some of this, but you know what
we’re saying. Your faith through prayer has
got to be a force for good. Jesus said as
much. In 30,000 words or less, that’s all
we’re saying.
“A People who believe and belong --The
Kingdom of God is where you are.” Awe-
some!
Please, tell us your reasons for not coming:

Everyday Stewardship
I was sitting in my car, waiting to pick up my daughter from an area teen Bible study. When I finally saw her I noticed she was walking
with her friend from school, who had recently been talking about getting baptized. Her parents were divorced and because of circum-
stances beyond her control, she never received the sacrament. Now she was older and growing in faith and longed to belong. I realized
both she and my daughter were coming toward my car. I rolled down the window. My daughter's friend just wanted to say hello and
thank me for inviting and taking her to Mass with us the previous Sunday. I told her she was welcome anytime. I thought to myself how
nice it was for her to thank me for something I had not even thought much about.
When you begin to see all that is around you as gift, you cannot help but give thanks. You give thanks for the obvious: life, family, and
love. But you also give thanks for the smaller things: a ride, a gesture, and a prayer. And you begin to realize that all actions of thanks,
whether it is directly to God in prayer, or it is to a person who has been kind, end up glorifying God. For it was God that created all
things and any acknowledgement of that goodness glorifies the Creator.
Everyday stewards can find it easier to be optimistic in this crazy world because they see life as so precious and all that works in concert
to sustain it as good. The gratitude expressed and experienced by a person provides a pathway to hope when it all seems hopeless, and to
love in the face of hate. It makes things like the longing of a young girl to be washed clean in baptismal waters possible in the face of a
culture-and perhaps parents-that see this as foolish. Thanks be to God.
