DEAR PARISHIONERS:

With the first Sunday of Lent, we have a special step in theRite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This is theway that our church family receives new adult members. There are two types of people in RCIA: those who seek to be baptized at Easter or those who have already beenbaptized with another Christian group and now want to makethe home for their faith in the Catholic church.

Both types of people are invited to the Enrollment of theirNames at a special Mass. This means that the Churchrecognizes their readiness for the sacraments of initiation. Ontheir part they express their will to receive these sacraments. What follows in the coming weeks is a time of purificationand enlightenment. This preparation includes prayers calledscrutinies at Sunday Mass which ask for God’s special helpfor them to turn from sin.

Please keep the dear people in the RCIA program in yourprayers. Their journey of faith reminds us of God’s call toeach Catholic for ongoing conversion of mind and heart.

Walk with me

Lord, walk with me this day.

Teach me how to see what you see:

to stop to talk to people

at wells and coffee breaks,

to settle differences with people

as we walk along the way

to challenge others

to spot hurts in eyes and hearts

long before we hear about them in words.

Lord, walk with me this day.

Teach me how to hear what you hear:

the sound of birds,

the cries of the poor,

the whisperings of your Father

in the wind and in the loneliness

of our deserted places,

the needs of children,

the loneliness of those feeling all alone,

the screams of lost sheep,

and the knocking on our door

by our neighbor or is it you

always with us even

in the middle of our night?

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel, Jesus urges his listeners to do two

things: to believe in the Good News and to repent. The

steward is called to repent: to acquire an openness to

begin anew, to change existing attitudes and habits, and to

act with faith in the Gospel. In this season of Lent, now is

the time to ask ourselves whether or not we truly believe in

the Gospel; and if we do, to what extent are we willing to

change our prevailing habits and be more faithful to the

Gospel?

Invita a quienes

experiencia.
