FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 28th to APRIL 3rd
“S , I ; , I G . I
; I .” I 41:10
Dear beloved parishioners, Hope you are keeping fine and taking good care of yourselves during this current healthcare situation. We have already passed the mid way of lent and going to celebrate the fifth Sunday of lent. This time we have a different kind of lent. It is a time of sorrow for those who regularly attend the daily masses because the masses are not offered in public. I know how much you miss masses. I too miss masses with our parishioners in our church. We need to understand and act according to the directions of the state and federal government. Dioceses across the nation including the archdiocese of New York have cancelled the Holy week celebrations with the congregation. However, our church remains open for personal prayer but please respect “social distancing”. Priests will say private masse and bless the palms on palm Sunday. Plans are underway to make blessed palms available to parishioners as we get closer to Palm Sunday. We are also considering a safe means of hearing confessions as we approach Easter Sunday. As previously announced, online masses are available at https://saintpatrickscathedral.org/live and we are looking into providing online masses from our parish church. I urge you to please visit our parish website at https://holynameofjesuschurch.org. for the latest information and our weekly bulletin or call the rectory if you have questions or immediate needs. Copies of the weekly bulletin will be available in the church vestibule. I find this very difficult but necessary to mention, since our congregation will not be gathering for masses through Easter Sunday, you certainly would understand that monetary contributions will diminish. We are taking every step to more tightly control and postpone our expenditures during this period. However, I respectfully ask those that can do so to please continue your generosity by bringing, mailing or arranging online contributions as offered on our website.
We must all be mindful of and adhere to our Federal, State and Local government guidelines and at the same time be flexible to accommodate our spiritual needs. I ask all of us to join me in daily prayer as we manage our way through this difficult period. I am confident we will become an even stronger parish community having lived through this together. Thank you and may God Bless us.
Fr. Bejoy Thomas, CMI
