A link to the website is on our St. Boni- face website at http://frteck.weebly.com One of my responsibilities outside of the Parish is to travel with the Illinois State Knights of Columbus to various points across this vast state. I am re- sponsible for preparing Morning Prayer and assist- ing at Mass. Last weekend I joined my Brother Knights at the Summer Meeting in Lisle, Illinois. It is an opportunity to kick off the Fraternal year and install State K of C and Columbian Squires Offices. We gathered together for Holy Mass and Installa- tion at the beautiful St. Procopius Abbey Church in Lisle. There is some- thing special at St Procopius and you feel it the moment you walk into the sacred space. A friend and member of the group who was attending Mass approached me and asked me a question, “Deacon what makes this a Catholic Church, there are no statues, no stations of the cross?” St Proco- pius is very different from our space at St. Boniface. We have beautiful statues, paintings, stained glass windows and our majestic High Altar. St Procopius has two major features the Altar and Ambo. I explained that there is a difference between a Parish Church and in this case an Abbey. The space is designed to meet the needs of the Monks in their daily prayer life. Following Holy Communion, I looked out at the nearly full Abbey and I had to smile. The question answered itself! WE, all of us, gathered to- gether as one body, brought together through the Sacrifice of the Mass is what makes St Procopius a Catholic Church. What truly amazed me was that each of us there were members of different parishes in different dio- ceses across Illinois and beyond. But yet here we were celebrating togeth- er. In the Gospel of Mark this week we are reminded of this very event — gathering together as Church. So they went off in the boat by them- selves to a deserted place. People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them.” Jesus saw all the people gathered and he began to teach them. During these summer months many of us travel and have the opportunity to visit a Church in another town or state. The language spoken might be Spanish, the people may look different than you do but it’s easy to feel at home in the Catholic Church. Sacraments: New Perspectives

Traditional religious education emphasizes the function and role of the seven Sacraments, but our Theology on Tap sessions will provide a broader perspective of what the sacraments mean and how we can live them out.
