and CALLED TO PROTECT Volunteer Requirements & Training Information We would love for you to Volunteer! In order to volunteer at Holy Family Catholic School there are procedures from the Archdiocese which must be followed. All volunteers must attend a Called to Protect class. If you have already completed the class/video you do not need to repeat each year. Those wishing to volunteer will need to view the Called to Protect for Parents and Ministries videos before volunteering for the first time. Holy Family will be offering the Called to Protect Training for the 2017-2018 year on: Friday, SEPTEMBER 22 nd at 8:30AM and Friday, OCTOBER 6 th at 8:30AM in Celebration Hall & Thursday, OCTOBER 12 th at 6:30PM and Sunday, OCTOBER 15 th at 12:30PM in the Parish Center There are other locations to view the videos at different sites throughout the Archdiocese. We have found the CYO office off of Sandy Blvd offers the most opportunities for viewing during the day. After viewing the videos, the prospective volunteer will be asked to do a Background Check online, through a secure site called Praesidium. The request will come by email, to his/her inbox. The information will be competed and submitted by the volunteer, and the school will receive the results. The Background Check will be renewed every three years. After the Background Check has been completed and cleared, he/she will be asked to log on to a website and complete the required yearly module. ALL volunteers must complete a module each year. This year, the Archdiocese is using an outside site for the module. This is a different site than Armatus site used previously. After registering, volunteers will use the new user name and password they created. This module can be accessed by going to http://cmgparent.org 1. Click “Start Learning” 2. Register by creating a personal account, select Archdiocese of Portland, then select the parish (school employees/volunteers select corresponding parish) keep track of your account info—you will be able to log back in. 3. View the Safe Have video (approx. 18 minutes) available in English & Spanish 4. Complete the quiz (approx. 2 minutes) 5. Print out the certificate and submit or email to Sharon or Jill in the school office. Once you have completed the module, you will be an active volunteer! Hurray! Peace One Day What is PEACE ONE DAY?

Building peace one day at a time. Peace One Day is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1999. In 2001 due to its efforts, the member states of the

United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September- Peace Day.

Peace One Day is impartial and independent of any government, political persuasion, corporation or religious creed. Through a multi-platform approach, Peace One Day utilizes different tools to raise awareness, advocate for Peace

Day and engage the global community in its broad observance.

Holy Family Catholic School will participate in this world event praying for PEACE and making an art display around Celebration Hall.

Peace starts with individual action, and your actions will inspire others. So, on Peace Day, 21st of September what will you do for PEACE?
