Dear people of God, On this Second Sunday of Advent, we are given the wonderful person of St. John the Baptist to consider. What a gift he is! Jesus Himself stated that among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist(Matthew 11:11). What a compliment! John was great not only because of his special call- ing, he was great because of the virtue he had in his life. It is this gift that we should reflect on more than any other this week. The particular virtue John had was that of humility. He saw himself as nothing more than a voice crying out in the desert, and as someone unworthy to stoop down and untie the sandal straps of Jesus ((Mark 1:7). The word he spoke was Jesus. He was praised and followed by many and yet he continually said of Jesus that He must increase and I must decrease(John 3:30). His humility was such that he was focused only on Jesus and desired only to point to Him. Maybe we could reflect today upon this humility in our own life. Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of John the Baptist. May his witness of humility inspire me in my Christian journey. Help me, Lord, to always point others to You rather than to myself. Jesus I trust in You.Please remember to be generous in your response to our request for our annual Christmas Giving Tree and Christmas Food Drive. Mission Statement

Our Parish here in Tampa, FL, a Catholic Church dedicated to the Mother of God under her title as Help of Christians, is a place of joy,

worship, welcome, evangelization and reconciliation. As a Salesian Parish in the Diocese of St. Petersburg we commit ourselves to having

a deep-seated preference for the young, especially those who are poor, while striving to minister to the corporal and spiritual needs of all

our members and visitors as well. We pray and work for peace, love, truth, and social justice through active stewardship and service -

notably with the assistance of our advocate Mary Help of Christians, and her great devotee St. John Bosco. We hope to provide an oppor-

tunity for everyone who worships with us to be transformed into people courageously living the Gospel.
