YERONGA HOLIDAY CARE PROGRAMCo-Directors: Tanya Harris + Jordan Young

Hours of Operation: Our service is open from 7:00am – 6:00pm.

Cost: $51.00 per day per person. On excursion days or days on which community entertainment isprovided, an additional cost is applicable. Daily costs are listed on the program at the back of thisbooklet.

Bookings:The holiday care booking form must be completed (FOR ALL DECEMBER AND JANUARYDATES) and given to the Co-ordinator by Wednesday 6 th December. Bookings received after thisdate (Wednesday 6th December) will incur an additional late booking fee of $5 per child per dayattending.

Conditions:Holiday Care bookings will only be accepted through completion of the appropriate booking formdistributed with the program. Holiday Care bookings will only be accepted if the family account for all previous care is paid in full. Allfees in relation to Holiday Care must be paid on receipt of holiday statement. Accounts are e-mailed outon the Wednesday before Holiday Care starts. Failure to make payment may result in an automaticcancellation of bookings.

Cancellations. Cancellations made with less than 7 days notice will be charged the full fee for the

session, including any incursion/excursion fee costs. Cancellations made with 7 days notice or more, will incur a fee equal to half the standard

daily cost, plus any additional incursion/excursion costs.

Requirements for childrenEach day, please ensure that your child has:Hat (wide brimmed not a cap with name marked clearly on it. No hat, no play outside)Sensible/Comfy sun safe clothing that can get wet/messy (or a change of clothes for especiallymessy days!)Sensible/comfy shoes (no shoes with heels)Apply sun block at home. Centre will provide sunscreen throughout the day. Please provide your ownbrand of sunscreen if your child has any allergies or aversions to the YOSHC sunscreenAmple lunch and drinks (except where stated otherwise) Please ensure you provide a water bottle foryour child.Red shirt for excursion days

We do not supply lunch! (Unless Specified)Please consider freezer blocks or appropriate foods for the hot summer months as we are not able toprovide fridge space for all the children. We also ask that you do not send with your child any food thatrequires preparation at the centre e.g. Noodles. The management committee request that no nutproducts such as Peanut Butter or Nutella be brought to the centre, in order for the centre tomeet the requirements of duty of care. Any queries can be directed to the Co-ordinator.

Yeronga Outside School Hours Care does not take responsibility for any property that your childbrings to the centre whilst in our care, this includes toys, clothing, bikes, jewellery, helmets, CDs,DVDs, computer games etc. We ask that all toys are to be left at home.

REMINDER: Yeronga Outside School Hours Care staff reserve the right torequest a photo id of parents/guardians, relatives, school and community.This ensures the safety of the children and staff of YOSHC.

EXTRA INFORMATION + WHAT TO BRING PLEASE NOTE! WE DO MESSY, MUDDY, WET, ACTIVE (AND FUN!) PLAY

EVERYDAY OVER THE HOLIDAYS. PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE (OLD! N o special, new, precious outfits! ) CLOTHES AND PACK A SPARE SET IN CASE A CHANGE IS NEEDED!

On Monday the 11th of December, we will be having a visit from Bazil Grumble who will be delivering their 90 minute Nutcracker Story to Stage incursion. Please ensure your children bring their sense of adventure for some creative fun this Christmas!

From Bazil Grumble: “TheNutcracker is known best as a bal-let but many books share this clas-sic tale too! This workshop willspark the imagination as parti-cipants examine the process of tak-ing a story and adapting it to a playfor performance. Faces will light upas they explore acting and present-ation techniques including posture,gesture and movement, and vocalskills including expression, clarityand projection. The session willconclude with a group presentationof the children’s interpretation ofthis classic story that never ceases

to warm the heart.”

Over the Summer holidays we will be having a number of pool days where the afternoon will be spent at the Yeronga Park Pool (between 12.30pm – 3.30pm). Please ensure your child has a hat, togs, towel, goggles and a sunsafe shirt. YOSHC will advise children to apply and reapply sunscreen and zinc throughout the afternoon. They will also need to bring Lunch (for before the pool) and a large water bottle. Canteen facilities are available at the pool for snacks/treats only (please ensure main lunch is packed fromhome). Please send a maximum of $5.00 with your child if you wish your child to use thisfacility. Please ensure your child/ren has a hat, togs and rash shirt, towel and spare clothes to change into at the end of the day.

On Thursday the 14th of Decemberwe will be having a day of fun andactivity with our excursion to BalanceBrisbane for one of their gym andparkour sessions! Our session withBalance Brisbane will run from 1-3pmso we will head off from YOSHC earlyand spend the morning at the Hyde Rdpark (on the way). We have made ar-rangements with Souths Cricket Clubto use their toilets on the day. Pleaseensure your child wears sunsafeclothes suitable for sports activity(eg sports/stretchy shorts with nopress studs/buttons that may catch on apparatus), comfortable shoes and a sun-safe hat and ample lunch and water. We will be walking to and from Balance Brisbane,via the park, leaving YOSHC at approximately 9.30am and returning by 4pm. Frozen poppers will be provided at lunch by YOSHC in addition to the childrens own food and icey poles provided by YOSHC as part of afternoon tea during the walk back.

On Wednesday the 20th of December we will be going to the Southbank Cinemas. Children will need to be at YOSHC by 9.00am. We will be travelling to and from the South Bank precinct by train. We will be spending either the morning session or the af-ternoon session at the movies seeing ‘Wonder ' rated PG. We will have lunch at South-bank Parklands (children's own lunch) and spend the alternate session in the Park-lands. (More specific timing will become available once cinema times are released.) Please ensure your child has adequate lunch (they eat a lot on excursion days!) and that they have sensible walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat and large waterbottle. We will be returning to the centre at approximately 3.30pm.

The movie we will be watching is called Wonder:

Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have preven-ted him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomesthe most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger com-munity all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

You can find the trailer on youtube and it would be great if you can chat to your child/ren about the film if they have questions either before or after.

On Tuesday the 9th of January we will be having an excursion to the Cultural Centre, with the opportunity to visit the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery, State Library and GOMA (visits will be numbers dependent and decided on the day). We will be travelling to and from the Cultural Centre precinct by train. The children need to be at the service by 9am. We will be returning at approximately 3.30pm. We will have a picnic lunch (children's own lunch) in the cultural centre precinct. Please ensure your child has adequate lunch (they eat a lot on excursion days!) and that they have sensible walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat and large waterbottle.

Following our inspiring day at the Cultural Centre, we will be having an Artful Antics Day on Wednesday the 10th of January, with an incursion from Raw Art. Raw Art will be conducting a guided art session where the children will have the opportunity to produce their own work of art and see it through to completion. Please ensure your child wears old, art-friendly clothes that can get messy and dirty!

On Monday the 15th of January YOSHC will behosting a sports day including an incursion fromMajerSports. MajerSports will be bringing a rangeof fun games and activities for us to try includingtheir giant soccer, cage ball and radar gun racing!Please ensure your child wears practical sportsshoes and comfortable clothing.

On Wednesday the 17th of January we will be going on an excursion to Australia Zoo

in Beerwah . Children need to be at the centre by 8.15am. We will be travelling to

and from the Zoo by private, belted bus. Children will have the opportunity to visit the various wildlife displays at the zoo and see some of the talks and tours as well. We will be enjoying their own picnic lunch so please ensure your child/ren have enough food (they eat a lot on excursion days!). They also need a sunsafe hat, comfortable shoes

and ample lunch and water. We will return to YOSHC at approximately 4.30pm.

Please ensure your child wears a red shirt on excursion days for easier identification.

If your child / children are attending Holiday Care, we will be showing PG rated movies as a part of our daily activities. If you do not want your child to watch a PG movie please speak to the coordinator on duty. Children will have the choice as to whether they’d like to watch the movie or partake in another activity.

If your child needs to be administered medication during Holiday Care, the medication must be: in its original packaging, with the prescribed dosage and the child’s name prin-ted on it. Without this, we cannot administer medication – this includes Nurofen & Panadol.

Swimming Permission and Abilities Form

During Holiday Care we will have a number of swimmingdays. Please check the program page at the back of the booklet to ensure

you get the days right and don't forget your togs!

The pool days will be held at Yeronga Pool, from approximately 12.30pm to3:30 pm. Please fill in this form if you will be using the service on a

swimming day.

I hereby give permission for my child/ren to visit and walk to Yeronga Pool whilst under the supervision of YOSHC staff. I am aware that everybody who attends the centre on Pool Excursion Days will have to take part in the excursion to the pool as there will be no staff remaining at the centre to supervise. Children will besupervised at a ratio of 1:5. Coordinating staff yet to be confirmed.

When: Wednesday 17th January.

Where: Australia Zoo, Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah. 07 5436 2071

What time: Children must be at the service at 8.15am and will be returning at approximately 4.30pm

Cost: $95.00/child

Other Notes:

Children have to take –

Hat, Sun-safe clothes and sensible walking shoes.

Lunch, Snacks and Water Bottle.

Please wear a red shirt for easy identification on the excursion

to participate in the excursion to Australia Zoo on Wednesday the 17th of January.

I understand my child/ren will be:

Travelling to and from the Zoo by private, belted bus, departing at 8.30am, returning at approximately 4.30pm

Spending the day at the Wildlife Park participating in a wide variety of activities that may include: walking

around the park, viewing a variety of animals, listening and participating in talks/sessions by the centre.

Perhaps given the opportunity to view (and perhaps touch) some live animals as part of the Park program.

Having lunch at the Wildlife Park

Accompanied by the appropriate number of YOSHC educators required to meet the 1:8 ratio.

I understand a risk assessment has been conducted and is available to view on request.
