Deakin Residential Services Competition – Terms and Conditions of Entry The promoter of this competition is Deakin Residential Services, ABN 22 145 979 344., 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong 3220. This competition is open to all students currently living on residences at Deakin University who are over the age of eighteen. Employees of Deakin University and their immediate families are not eligible to enter. Entry is limited to one entry per person and to be eligible you must complete the online re application process in starrez portal and confirm your accommodation. Incomplete entries will be invalid. Value of prize is shown as a guide only and was correct at time of printing. The Promoter accepts no responsibly of any variation in the prize value. The prize is as follows: one red balloon voucher valued at $500. The prize winner will be drawn at random on Wednesday 30 July 2014 at the offices of Deakin Residential Services at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, the winner will be notified by email or phone on Wednesday 30 July 2014. The competition commences at 9 am on Monday 23 June 2014 and closes Friday 25 July 2014 at 11:59pm. Personal information provided by entrants will be used by Deakin University administer the contest and notify winners. Room Inspections A thank you to all residence for your cooperation with room inspections. In what was a close contest it was the men who came out as the cleaner gender - Well done! A special mention should be made to our female residence for their superior interior decorating skills. Overall there was room for improvement. Please be aware that an exit clean for those leaving in the later part of the year need to be cleaned to a standard that somebody else could move straight in. Remember if you are in doubt as to ‘what’s clean’, you can always ask. Please find below some tips you might all find useful.

• Cleaning the blue/black walls – scuff marks are present on most rooms, these can be clean best with a damp cloth using plain water

• Vacuuming – many rooms looked like they would appreciate a vacuum. Vacuums and mops can be borrowed from reception during office hours

• Please turn your heaters off and close your windows when not in your room • Stove tops – these are best cleaned with the cleaning blades, please be sure to ask Marlene at reception

if you have any questions • Drain smells – if you are experiencing smells from you drains please notify maintenance • No residence furniture from communal areas are to be taken into residence rooms

A number of rooms needed some extra attention, these residence will be contacted regarding a re-inspection.

Power Outage eSolutions will be upgrading the network hardware that services Student Residence Buildings on Sunday the 6th July between 10:30am and 3:30pm

There will be a disruption to the network service IPTV during this upgrade

Deakin Cloud Mobile

On Friday July 4th it will visit the Warrnambool Campus to introduce itself (metaphorically speaking!) so feel free to come and have a look, talk to Dan and Christian, it will be parked in front of the Percy Baxter Theatre, and will be available from 11am 2pm for Friday 4th July only. See how you can make the most of the CloudMobile. Its usual operating hours on the Warrnambool campus will be 10am 4pm when it comes for a week-long visit in early August.
