Summer Holiday

Homework 2017

Dear Parent,

The summer holidays provide not only a welcome respite to the

children but also act as rejuvenating and revitalizing experience

for them. For this, it is imperative that they use this time for

pursuing various creative and purposeful activities. Every game,

every friendly scuffle, every experience of life adds a little more

to their skills and personality. Any activity can become an

interesting learning experience for a child.

When children are given simple tasks to do, it enhances their self-confidence and sense of responsibility.

Remember to compliment children for their work. There are many simple chores around the house that

children can easily do. For instance, putting away toys after play, help in dusting the house, arranging

cupboards, looking after the pets, watering plants, wiping and arranging utensils and so on depending on the

age and capability of the child.

Social interaction is a skill which develops effectively when children get a chance to mix around with family

members, friends and people from all walks of life. Vacation time provides ample opportunity for this. Spend

time sharing stories or discuss open ended questions and acknowledge the feelings that are expressed.

Make your ward aware about conserving Electricity, Water and Fuel. Let them follow you as you switch off

lights/fan/appliances, close running taps or turn off the engine of your vehicle at the traffic signal.

Here are some projects which will not only keep children occupied but also make them learn to explore,

observe, concentrate, ask questions, find solutions and be more confident and independent.

Activity 1

Go for walk with the family. You will realize you have two of God’s greatest gifts….. NATURE and your

FAMILY. Do not forget to thank GOD for these gifts every night.

This is your chance to look after your parents, grandparents, elders and even your younger brothers and sisters.

You can surely be of some help around the house. Learn to be self-dependent. Try to make your own bed, learn

to wear your clothes, tie your shoelace and do other odd jobs.

Activity 2

Take 2 bowls. Keep these bowls on the terrace or in the lawn. Keep grains in one bowl and water in the other.

After a few days see different birds visiting your house for food and water. Click photographs and show them to

your friends after the vacation.

Activity 3

Learn the story “Thirsty crow”

Once, a crow was very thirsty. The crow searched for water everywhere. “Kaa, Kaa, Kaa…” At last he saw a

pot with very little water in it. He put his beak inside, But he could not reach down the water. The crow thought

of a plan. He picked some pebbles and dropped them into the pot one by one. The water level rose. The crow

drank the water and flew away happily.

Moral :- Where there is a will, there is a way
