ViewingSubsetStatisticsTheSubsetStatisticsfeatureallowsyoutoselectarangeofdatainagraph,anddisplaythemaximum,minimum,averageandstandarddeviationforthemeasurementsinthatrange.SeeViewingSubsetStatisticsformoreinformation.

DataAssistantsHOBOwareProDataAssistantsletyoucreatenewdataseriesbycombiningdatarecordedbytheloggerwithadditionaldatathatyouenterbeforeyoudisplaytheplot.Forexample,thekWhAssistantconvertsloggedpulsedatafromanenergytransducertokWh,averagekW,andenergycost.AllDataAssistantscanberunfromthePlotSetupwindowafteryoureadoutaloggeroropenadatafile.WiththismethodyouneedtoruntheDataAssistanteachtimeyoureadouttheloggeroropenadatafile.

BatteryLevel.Thisshowsthecurrentbatterylevelinthelogger. Status.ClicktheStatusbuttontochecktheloggersettingsusedinthepreviouslaunch.

SensorsTheSensorsListdisplaysallinternalsensorsandexternalchannelsavailableforrecordingdata.Choosethesensors,orchannels,youwishtologinthisdeployment.Toconfigureanexternalsensor:

Althoughitishelpfultoseetheconnectedsensorswhensettingupthelaunch,itisnotrequiredthatyouconnectthesensorsduringlaunchsetup.Youmaysetupthelaunchforadelayedorpushbuttonstart,thenconnectthesensorslater,beforeloggingbegins.Important:Sensorsthatareconnectedafterloggingbeginswillnotloganydata.Alternatively,ifyouselectanexternalchannel,butdonotplugthesensorin,falsedatawillberecordedforthatchannel.

SomeloggerswithRHorpressuresensorsrequirethatyoualsoselecttheinternaltemperaturesensortologrelativehumidityorpressure.Thedependencymaybenotedinthesensorslist(seeRelativeHumiditychannelintheexampleabove).Refertothemanualthatcamewithyourloggerforadditionalinformation.

WhenboththeinternaltemperatureandRHsensorsareselected,dewpointwillbecalculatedautomatically.

Ifexternaleventsorstatesareavailableforyourlogger,youcanenternamestoidentifytheeventandstatechannelsthatareinuse.YoucanalsorenametheOpenandCloseddescriptionsforeachstate,andenterincrementsandunitsforeacheventchannel.

HOBOwareProDataAssistantsletyoucreatenewdataseriesbycombiningdatarecordedbytheloggerwithadditionaldata.WhenyouuseaDataAssistantfromtheLaunchLoggerwindow,theparametersetissavedandappliedtodataeverytimeyoureadoutaloggeroropentheresultantdatafile.ThederiveddataisalsoshownwhenyoucheckthelatestreadingsintheStatuswindow.ClicktheScalingbuttontoaccesstheDataAssistantswindowandchoosetheLinearScalingorPulseScalingAssistant.ClicktheCreatebuttontoruntheassistant.Afteryouentervalues,clickSave.SensorsthatsupportDataAssistantsatlaunchtimedisplaytheScalingiconnexttotheirname.

Someloggershavealarmfunctionality.ClicktheAlarmsbutton,ifavailable,tosetalarmsasdesired.SensorsthathavealarmfunctionalitydisplaytheAlarmsiconnexttotheirname.

ClicktheFiltersbuttontocreateanadditionalfilteredseries,suchasaveragetemperatureperday,automaticallywhenyoureadouttheloggerandplotthedata.

Youhavetheoptiontorecordthelogger'sbatteryvoltageateachsampletime;thisisthelastchannelinthesensorslist.Liketheotherdatachannels,loggingtheinternalbatterychannelconsumessomeofthelogger'smemory.Unlessyoususpectabnormalbatteryperformance,youdonotneedtolog

Deployment LoggingInterval.Selecthowoftentheloggerwillrecorddata.Youcanchooseeitheroneofthepreset

loggingintervalsorspecifyacustomlogginginterval.Theminimumloggingintervalisonesecondandthemaximumformostloggersis18hours,12minutes,and15seconds.Theshorterthelogginginterval,themorequicklymemoryfillsandbatterypowerisconsumed.Ifyoudidnotselectanychannelstolog,thisfieldwillbedisabled.SeealsoMultipleLoggingIntervalsandFastLoggingIntervals.

LoggingDuration.Thisliststheapproximatetimeitwilltaketofilltheloggermemorybasedontheloggingintervalandsensorscurrentlyselected.Thisisatheoreticalestimateonly;batterylifeandfrequentstateandeventloggingwillaffectyourdeployment.Ifyouareloggingonlystatechangesandevents,noestimationispossible.

Inadditiontologgingupto15channels,theHOBOEnergyLoggerandHOBOU30Stationcanrecordtheirinternalbatterychannel(othersensorsmustbeattached;theloggercannotlogbatteryalone).Thelogger'sbatteryvoltageisrecordedateachinterval.However,loggingtheinternalbatterychannelconsumessomeofthelogger'smemory.Unlessyouareusingexcitationpowerorsuspectabnormalbatteryperformance,youprobablydonotneedtologthebatteryvoltageinloggersotherthantheHOBOU30Station.

LoggingDuration.Thisliststheapproximatetimeitwilltaketofilltheloggermemorybasedontheloggingintervalandsensorscurrentlyselected.Thisisatheoreticalestimateonly;batterylifeandfrequentstateandeventloggingwillaffectyourdeployment.Ifyouareloggingonlystatechangesandevents,noestimationispossible.IfyouaddorremovesensorswhileviewingtheLaunchwindow,clicktheRefreshbuttontogetanupdatedLoggingDuration.

MultipleLoggingIntervalsOverviewSomeloggerscanbeconfiguredwithmultipleloggingintervals,whichallowyoutodefineseparateintervalsfordifferentphasesofthedeployment.Ifmultipleloggingintervalsareavailableforyourlogger,youwillseeanAddNewIntervalbuttonontheLaunchwindowforyourlogger.Becauseinternalloggerevents,suchascouplerevents,dotakeupsomeofthelogger'smemory,thenumberofsamplesandendtimesareonlyestimates.Frequenteventswillcausetheloggertofillupsooner.

StepsToconfiguremultipleloggingintervals:

1. ClicktheAddNewIntervalbuttonuntilyouhaveasmanyintervalsasyouwant(uptothenumberofintervalsavailableforthelogger).

2. Setthehours,minutes,andsecondsforeachinterval,andthenumberofsamplesyouwanttheloggertorecordateachinterval.

3. UsetheStartandEndtimesintheDurationcolumntohelpyoudecidehowmanysamplestorecordateachinterval.

Todeleteaninterval,clicktheRemovebuttonnexttotheinterval.


FastLoggingIntervalsSomeloggerscanbeconfiguredwithfastloggingintervals,whichallowyoutologmorethanoncepersecond,upto100measurementspersecond(hertz).Iffastloggingintervalsareavailableforyourlogger,theLaunchwindowforyourloggerwillofferLoggingIntervalchoicesofNormalandFast.Tousefastloggingintervals,clicktheFastbutton.ThenchoosealoggingfrequencyfromtheHertzdropdownlist,orentertheloggingintervalindecimalformintheSecfield.

NOTES Aloggercannotcommunicatewithacomputerorshuttlewhileitisloggingatafastinterval.Onceit

hasstartedlogging,ifyouconnectittoacomputer,basestation,orshuttletocheckstatusorreaditout,theloggerwillstop.

BeawarethatafastloggingintervaltypicallymeansaveryshortLoggingDuration.Makesuretheloggerwillrunlongenoughtocollectthedatayouneed.Disablingunnecessarychannelswillgiveyoumoretime.
