HIV Update 2018 Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University 222 Richmond Street, Providence, RI 02912 Program Description is program is designed to give an update on the diagnosis and management of HIV infection. We will address latest statistics on new infections and trends in the state of Rhode Island and services provided to HIV patients at the Immunology Center. Our speakers are Brown faculty with significant expertise in their topics. Our goals are to increase knowledge to effectively prevent, diagnose and treat HIV infection in primary care practice and to be knowledgeable about common questions arising in the care of the HIV- infected patient. Target Audience Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses specializing in infectious diseases, primary care, family practice, internal medicine, geriatrics, gastroenterology and hepatology as well as social workers, licensed mental health counselors, and other interested medical providers. Learning Objectives • Understand trends and statistics in new HIV diagnoses in RI. • Learn about current HIV testing algorithms including pitfalls in making a diagnosis. • Learn about effective new treatments to prevent HIV infection. • HIV treatment is as simple as one pill a day, what to prescribe and what needs to be monitored for success. • Update of prevention of mother to child transmission and specific health issues for HIV-infected women. • Learn about the specific health challenges facing the aging HIV-infected patient Accreditation e Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Psychologists: The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University has been approved by the Rhode Island Psychological Association to offer continuing education credits for Psychologists. The Alpert Medical School maintains responsibility for the program. This program is approved for 3.5 Category 1 CE Credit. (Credits available to RI licensed psychologists only.

Social Workers: This activity has been approved by the NASW,Rhode Island for 3.5 CE's (3.5 CE's in Cross-Cultural Practice),Authorization #: RI-6967, valid until 4/30/19.

Cancellation PolicyCancellations/substitutions must be made in writing to the Brown CME Office at least two weeks prior to the conference, no later than April 1, 2018. A $25.00 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds (no refunds for “no shows”). There will be no additional charge for substitutions. This conference is subject to change or cancellation
