Corporate HIV-AIDS Policy

Protection of the health, safety and welfare of all persons involved in Saipem Company activities whether employed directly or as subcontractors represents a key aim that ranks equally with our other primary business objectives.

SAIPEM recognizes the criticality of HIV-AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) as a worldwide medical problem and is aware that international oil and gas activity could contribute to the spread of the disease.

We also recognize that an effective definitive cure for the disease does not yet exist. Accordingly we must pay particular attention to comprehensive preventive measures, first of all, by highlighting risky behavior and by teaching and encouraging personnel to change it.

SAIPEM’s policy for the prevention of HIV infection and improving the quality of life of those already infected or ill, involves following:

• Implementation of Program for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Disease and HIV-AIDS based on appropriate information, and encouraging development of adequate behavior.

• Free, voluntary, individual testing.

• Guaranteeing access of all personnel to reliable medical facilities to implement screening of all biological products used in treatment and diagnostics.

• Not discriminating in any way against persons who are HIV positive, either during their work or in social contacts.

• Respecting the privacy of all persons by strictly adhering to the established legal requirements, medical ethics and acceptable deontological practices.

• Providing counseling and access to the best medical care, to those infected with the HIV
