Andoh,blogsappeared.Lestanyonethinkbloggingisonthewane,Icanassureyouthatitsnot.Especiallyifyoureoneofasubsetofparentswhoarerareinindividualcommunitiesbutmorenumerousonline,thereisabloggingnetworkoutthereforyou,andfantasticbloggerscreatingcommunityaroundeverythingfromsinglemomsandmoneytoparentingchildrenwithdisabilitiestopostpartumdepression.
Theblogs,Iadmit,appearedinsuchnumbersthatIwasoverwhelmed.Ihadgrandiosevisionsofchoosingmy15favoritepersonalblogsandanother10orsoproblogsfrompeopleornewsroomsthatIcheckdaily,butthatwasimpossible.Afew,likeLisaB.Adamssblogaboutlivingwith(and,bluntly,comingtotermswithdyingfrom)metastaticcancer,weresubmittedbyreadersagainandagain.NickBhasinsDaddysLittleMiracleisfunny,honestandmuchlovedbyreadershere.ManyreaderspointedmetotheNationalDiaperBanksJoanneGoldblumsHuffingtonPostblogforitsnoholdsbarredperspectiveonparentingandpoverty.
Ididfindfavoritessomenew,andsomeIhadalreadyknown.JaneRopersblog,JanesCalamity,beganwhenshewaspregnantwithhertwindaughters.Forfiveyears,shebloggedforBabbleaboutlifewithtwins,butshereturnedtowhatshecallsnoncommercialturfin2012,whenherdaughter
