Middle Fork Mining Lands Facts
•Covers over 360 acres in northern Feather Falls County
•First mining Camps established in 1849•Grew to be the largest established mining
encampment in the state by 1861▫ In its prime, the Middle Fork Camps
included over 100 buildings and shops•Took out over 80 million in gold ore(750
million today)
HLP Society Positions
•Historic Middle Fork mining camps/ lands are being actively protected▫Abandoned by Federal and local
governments•Over 70% of the original buildings are
destroyed▫Human presence is harmful to area
•Need preservation plan ASAP or will lose all evidence of camps within 10 years
