Basant Panchmi celebrates Goddess Saraswati January 24, 2015

Basant means Spring, where as Panchmi means 5th day. Basant Panchmi is the celebration of the arrival of Spring. World over spring signifies renewal of life in plants and animals; and a time for Hindus to joyously usher in a new period of color and warmth. There are several versions all throughout the Indian subcontinent. Color yellow plays an important role in this festival. On this day we celebrate birth of Goddess Saraswati and Her consort Brahma (Lord of Creation) for originating the universe. Goddess Saraswati is considered personification of all knowledge wisdom and learning like arts, sciences, crafts and various other skills. She has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning: mind, intellect, alertness and ego. She has a book in her left lower hand, her right lower hand showing chin mudra (attitude of Consciouness) the posture of hands where the thumb and index finger are together and other three fingers are separated, aksharamala in her right upper hand and amrithakalasam in left upper hand. Both eyes are full of compassion. The most famous Sarawati Temple (Shrinegri Shardamab temple) in India is situated in Shrinegri, Karnatka and Sri Sharda temple in Kashmir. Shrinegri Shardamab temple was established by Shankaracharya in 8th century. There are numerous other Saraswati temples in other states like Andhra Pradesh and Bihar.

Bengali Community sponsors Goddess Saraswati Puja 10:30 AM Saturday January 24, 2015 .

Founding Trustees of HCO Inc. Dayton had same principal in mind when they established the Foundation. Promote Hindu Culture, knowledge, teachings of religion, welfare of Humanity including youth, adults, Seniors and needy. Founding Trustees respected all Avatars incarnated or yet to be incarnated of Lord Vishnu as equal and to interpret in any other way is being disrespectful to Lord Vishnu and Hinduism. Our temple is called Hindu Temple of Dayton and all Hindus are equal. Om Shanti Hindu Cultural Center is for all members of community irrespective whether you are a member or not. Worship Devotion Faith to almighty God or individual avatar are great accomplishment but to do blindly without respect to other shows ignorance and disrespect. To respect avtar you believe is your own personal belief and not the vision of Hinduism and founders of HCO Dayton. Many are more learned amongst us about Hindu religion and culture; but more important is do they really practice great teachings in their life. Teachings of Hindu Religion Promote Truth, Knowledge, Education, Love, Just, and Individual and Social welfare of Society While dispelling Untruth, Ignorance, injustice and Hatred Teachings From GEETA From Miseries to Happiness

From Death to Immortality through Life From Cowardice to Bravery From Escapism to Efforts From Passion to Vision From Arrogance to Abnegation From Worrying to Thinking Solutions From Conflict to Clarity From Ignorance to Knowledge From Attachment to Nonattachment From Pessimism to Optimism From Injustice to Justice From Rights to Duties From Materialism to Spiritualism From Selfishness to Selflessness From Emotion to Maturity From I, My, Me to We, Our, Us From Manliness to Godliness
