Dear Parents,
What a scorching few days we have had with temperatures reaching record figures during the middle of the week.
All of the children (and staff) took full advantage of this of course, none more so than our Year 6 children who en-
joyed two consecutive afternoons of team games and challenges which culminated in a mass water fight on our
field. Great fun was had by all as I am sure you can imagine, although I’m not so sure that Mrs Hollingworth appreci-
ated the absolute drenching that she received from the children in her ‘bubble’!
You will have listened to the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding the return to school for all children from
September. In Leicestershire, this actually means late August due to our term dates and we are so looking forward
to our school returning to some kind of normality, and to being able to welcome all children back for the start of the
new academic year. We are still awaiting government guidance as to how this will be achieved and the necessary
safety measures that will need to be implemented but we are determined to make this possible ready for the start
of the Autumn term on Wednesday 26th August 2020. I will provide more details as soon as I possibly can regarding
this.
Also, there are currently no plans for the school to remain open during the summer break. This means that school
will close for the end of this academic year on Friday 10th July 2020 at 3.10pm. There may be summer camps and
other similar provisions in place throughout the area and I will make every effort to signpost parents to these as
soon as we receive further information.
We are very excited to see the internal learning environment continue to develop during the course of this week. A
historical timeline, including relevant information about the local area, is now proudly in place on the Year 6 stair-
case and full wall displays which celebrate different religions and diversity along with our own school achievements
have also been installed. We are very proud of our school and our environment—please see photographs further on
in the newsletter.
Finally, it is very rewarding and satisfying to see and hear of our school’s reputation spreading wider than just our
local community. I am aware that this newsletter, and the information contained within it, has certainly crossed
county borders recently and has reached areas across the UK. Thank you to friends and family for sharing it and
please continue to do so as we are keen to let as many people as possible know about our wonderful school.
Thank you for your continued support. D Harding, Head Teacher
EYFS—New Starters
We are very excited to be welcoming our new EYFS children
and families in August. Under usual circumstances we would
now be holding our ‘stay and play’ visits along with a range
of other transition arrangements but this isn’t possible of
course at the moment. We have rearranged this for the start
of the Autumn term and have added lots of information re-
garding the transition on to our school website. Please take
the time to have a look and also please pass this message on
to any families who you know are new to our school.

Star Learners
We have three star learners for this week:
Lucy Massey & Eva Abbott (FS)
Both girls produced the most beautiful pieces of
handwriting this week. The letters were perfectly
formed and ready to be joined—I am sure a pen
licence is not too far away for either of them.
Daisy Barnes (Y6)
Daisy, helped by her dad, made a fantastic model of
a stockade as part of her Crime & Punishment pro-
ject. It really is a fabulous piece of work. Well done!

Welcome
I am delighted to inform you that we will be wel-
coming Mrs Paula Charity to our school at the
start of the new academic year. Mrs Charity will
be joining our team as the Head of the new SEMH
unit and brings lots of experience and expertise to
the role. We are very much looking forward to
working with her and I am sure you will all make
her very welcome.
Attendance
This week we have had 65% of those eligible to
attend in school—which once again is far in excess
of the national figure. Thank you to all.
Congratulations
Huge congratulations to Mrs Dean who is expecting
her first child in January 2021. We are all so thrilled
for her and her husband and, judging by the passion
that she puts into her teaching, we are sure that
she will make a fantastic mother. Mrs Dean will
continue to work with us for the Autumn Term be-
fore beginning her maternity leave in January 2021.
We will miss Mrs Dean massively but the show
must go on and we will be looking to recruit a re-
placement during the Autumn Term.

Nut Free School
Can we please take this opportunity to remind you
that Hinckley Parks is a nut free school. We have
children with severe allergies to nuts, so please
think carefully about the contents of your child’s
lunchbox.
Missing Sport Kit
Please could any of our branded sports/football kit
be returned to school. We would like this to be
back with us by the end of the school year if possi-
ble and are happy for you to drop it into our school
reception area while of course maintaining social
distancing in line with current government guid-
ance. I appreciate your support in this.
The home learning continues, more great photographs—thank
you! Plus some from in school!
