NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY!
Have you moved? Changed phone numbers? Created a new email
address? If so, it is time for us to update our church directory. A
directory is like a phonebook for the church, and it is a necessary
component to help us to maintain effective communication within our
church family.
Thelma Orozco has graciously volunteered to help create the new church directory! Here’s
what we need to you do:
1. Fill out the form below and return it to either Thelma or the church office by October 28. You
can send the information via email or return this completed form.
2. Provide us with a picture that we can include in the directory. If you do not have a picture to
submit, Taylor Coutts has offered to take pictures for the directory.
3. If your contact information has not changed since we published our current directory, please let
Thelma know that there are no changes to your information.

MEN’S GROUP With the busyness and craziness of life, it’s a blessing to have brothers in Christ to lean on and to hold each other accountable. We will be using curriculum by Stephen and Alex Kendrick called The Battle Plan for Prayer. If you have any questions, please reach out to Tino Elisara at [email protected] or at 650-452-4817.
WHEN: OCTOBER 7th & 21st TIME: 6:15 PM
MEN’S GROUP & WOMEN’S GROUP
HAVE STARTED AGAIN!
WOMEN’S GROUP
Names in the ancient world often conveyed the essential nature and character of a person. This is especially true when it comes to the names of God recorded in the Bible.
Experience the Lord in a new and deeper way by studying His names and titles: Adonay, El Shadday, Abba, Yeshua, Lamb of God, Prince of Peace. We will discuss many Scripture-based studies revealing important aspects of God's multifaceted character. Each week's study includes:
Background information to help readers understand the name
A key Scripture passage in which the name was first or most significantly revealed
A series of questions for individual or group study
A list of Bible passages for further reflection.
WHEN: OCTOBER 14th & 28th
TIME: 5:30 PM
JOB OPENING
Hillside Church of God and Hillside Christian Academy are searching
for a part-time custodian. The position requires 15 hours per week and
pays $13 per hour. This is a perfect job for someone looking to
supplement their income.
Tasks include cleaning classroom and bathrooms daily, and cleaning the church in preparation
for Sunday morning worship. Other tasks would include cleaning after special events such as
weddings and funerals, which pay extra.
The hours are flexible; we will try and work around your schedule. If interested, please speak
with our Business Manager, Lisa Akard.

POTLUCK-SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7TH Come and enjoy the food with great fellowship. All you have to
do is bring a dish to share, grab a plate of food, sit down, and
enjoy the food and the company.
Sunday, October 7th
We are having the potluck on the first
Sunday of the month because of our 60th
Anniversary celebration!
THE CHOIR MINISTRY Do you love to worship the Lord? Do you love to sing praises to the
Lord? Then the CHOIR Ministry is for you!
In this day of high-tech contemporary worship experiences, Hillside
Church of God is blessed to be one of the few churches who still have
an active CHOIR Ministry! Brad Akard and the CHOIR are beginning
to rehearse again, and they are hoping to recruit new members.
Please do not let lack of experience stop you from joining. Remember:
Jesus didn’t use only those who were perfect; Jesus used only those who
were willing to serve! If you are willing, and you have a desire to sing
unto the Lord then the CHOIR Ministry is your opportunity to serve in the church!
If you are interested, not sure if you are interested, or if you have any questions, please speak with
Brad Akard. The church would love to see you in the CHOIR and we would love to hear you sing!

A Message From Pastor Mike . .
There were a lot of significant events that occurred in 1958, and I praise God for a small group of faithful
Christ-followers at First Church of God in S.F. who heard and heeded God’s call to begin a new church at
1415 Hillside Blvd. in South San Francisco. The sacrifices that were made in order for the new church to be
built cannot be measured. The number of hours spent in prayer, at planning meetings, volunteer labor, and
fund raising cannot be counted. The total amount of money donated and raised for the cause can probably be
added up, but I doubt there is a completely accurate total accounted for. Praise God for the vision and dedi-
cation these saints had for God’s work beyond their own church 60 years ago.

What a lesson for us as Hillside moves to the next 60 years. God still has a purpose for His church in SSF. God still
has a vision for HCOG. The vision is to bring the message of salvation out our doors and beyond our walls by obey-
ing the Great Commandment (love God and neighbor), motivated by the Great Commission (“Go into all the world
and make disciples”). That was Jesus’ call for His church to the original disciples, and it is still our call today.
God has gifted each one of us to be His missional and incarnate servant. What are some physical and spiritual needs
that you see in your neighborhood? How can you, and we, creatively and relevantly meet those needs? What gifts do
you have to offer for the Kingdom of Heaven? Let us continue to ask these questions as we seek to bring Jesus into
our communities. .

Thank God for such a rich heritage we have!
Your servant in Christ,
