Grow learners & Develop citizens Principal’s Voice: Dear Parents and Caregivers Kia Ora A big welcome back to Term 4. Especially welcome to all new students starting with us this term. We are fast coming to the end of the year and the next nine weeks will fly by. Term four is usually a busy term with lots of end of year events and celebrations. Make sure you keep an eye on the calendar and we will keep you updated. Each syndicate will be investigating new topics of interest to provide opportunities for children to collaborate with others, to share and communicate their learning and be creative with their ideas. We believe these learning behaviours are essential for applying the skills and knowledge that children develop as they move through each area of the school. Term 4 is also a time when we look at all children's progress and achievement for this second half of the year in preparation for reports at the end of the year. Building renovation update: Many classrooms have been renovated over the term holidays with new carpets and coloured wall linings which has given a fresh new look to each environment. The hall toilets have also had a much needed makeover. Rooms 10,11 and 12 are the next and should be finished within the next two weeks. There is still some finishing work to be completed which will be carried out over this time. Thankfully it has not caused too much disruption as a lot of the work has been completed in the term break. We are looking forward to this being a highly successful term and as always appreciate the support that we receive from all our families. Instrumental music lessons with Lewis Eady at

Hillsborough Primary!

Our students have the opportunity to learn to play

musical instruments at school with Lewis Eady.

Lewis Eady’s beginner music programme Musical Jam - a

fun, instrumental prep programme for children in year 1

and 2 is a great way to get started!

For children in year 3 and upwards, 30 minute lessons (group or one-on-one) take place on

Wednesdays and Thursdays during school time. Instruments available include piano, keyboard, guitar

and ukulele. Singing, recorder, strings, woodwind, drum kit and brass will also be available should there

be sufficient interest.

To secure a place for your child for music lessons please visit www.lewiseady.co.nz to enrol online.

Happy Music making!

Travelwise Promotional Breakfast

On Thursday week 9 we held a special Travelwise breakfast. The Travelwise Leaders and Mrs Cook organised a breakfast for students who already walk on one of our Walking School buses and for any junior students interested in joining a Walking School Bus. The students enjoyed milo and toast on a cold morning before school with their friends. There were a lot of new students who enjoyed the special breakfast. If your child is new to our school and would like to join a walking school bus please contact Claire Cook on [email protected]
