FREE WATER FILTERS
During Family Fun Night, Michelle Naccarati-Chapkis from
Women for a Healthy Environment did a presentation on Protect-
ing your Family from Lead in the Water. After the demonstration,
each family received a water pitcher with 4 additional filters and
information pertaining the filter system and lead in the water. This
gave parents an opportunity to ask questions regarding lead in the
water. We appreciate the information that Michelle shared and the
pitcher and filters to help keep our children and families safe. We
still have some pitchers available so contact your worker.

FREE WATER FILTER SIGN UP Still have concerns about the water in your neighborhood? Sign up for a free filter! Sent 04/24/2017 @ 2:19 pm Dear District 6: After decades of disinvestment and neglect of its water infrastructure, Pittsburgh is one of an
overwhelming number of municipalities across the country facing a health and safety challenge
due to lead in its water system. The City and the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority are com-
mitted to solving this problem through our Safe Water Plan. This plan starts with the distribution
of lead filters for drinking water, and will continue with a full revamping of our water system. To-
day we are announcing the first phase of the Safe Water plan, which is the process for obtaining
free water filters and lead test kits for all City residents. Information on obtaining them is below.
This Safe Water website will keep you appraised of our efforts, so please check back frequently
for new updates and additional information. Thank you for working with us to provide the safe
and reliable water system that we all deserve.

SANCTUARY THEME- NON-VIOLENCE
S.E.L.F. is a non-linear framework, so using it sometimes means going out of
order when looking at an issue. Often it makes sense to start with the future
(where we hope to be) and work backwards from there considering issues
related to and steps to intervene around, safety, emotions and loss.
S.E.L.F. gives us the same language for all of us to talk about what has hap-
pened and gives us a way to way to talk about how we can move towards a
different future.
S.E.L.F is something we can do to help us figure things out. When we teach
S.E.L.F. to others, we teach them that S.E.L.F. is like a compass. It can give us
direction of where to go.
S.E.L.F. stands for:
Safety: Physical, Psychological, Social and Moral.
Emotion Management: Recognizing and handling emotions without hurting others or self.
Loss: Acknowledging and grieving past losses and trauma, committing to working against getting stuck
in the past while recognizing that all change involves loss.
Future: Re-establishing the capacity for choice and engaging in new behaviors rather than repeating
old patterns.
