    SITE NAME@): The site was most recently known as Hill Air Force Base. Prior to that thesite was known as Hill Military Air Field. The site consists of three individual properties thatare peripheral to the main portion of the Air Force Base, which is still an active facility.These properties will be discussed as P arcels 1, 2, and 3. Parcel 1 is currently know n a s theWeber Basin Job Corps Center and is owned by the Department of Interior, Bureau ofReclamation and the Department of Labor. Parcel 2 is also owned by the Departm ent ofInterior, Bureau of Reclamation. Parcel 3 is owned by the City of Riverdale and is used as areservoir.LOCATION: Hill Air Force Base (AFB) is located approximately 10 miles south of Ogden,Utah in Davis and W eber Counties. The Base is 25 miles north of Salt Lake City along 1-15and is situated along the foothills of the Wasatch Range. The center of the Air Force Base isat approximately 11 o 59' longitude and 41" 6' latitude.a. Parcel 1 which contains 771.49 acres, is located south of Interstate 84 and east of

    Final INPR -Hill Air Force Base771 -49 acres fee and 9.03 acres easement to the Department of Interior, Bureau o f Reclam ationby letter dated May 28, 1971 (CE0657). According to the Real Estate office at Hill Air ForceBase this property was utilized to provide water to the base. Several springs were located onthe property. No construction other than the water system ever took place on the property (L.Johnson, July 1999).b. Parcel 2 which contained 1.65 acres, more or less, was acquired fiom Chloe H arrisby Dec laration of 'Qdsing C ivil No. C-28-53 filed February 26, 1953. Portions of this propertywere previously held under Lease W2972-eng-937, W04-203-eng-3350, and W04-193-eng-2552 (CE0657). Cop ies of these Leases were unavailable. This property was transferred tothe B ureau of Reclam ation on May 7, 1962 and was exchanged for an adjacent property of thesame size (CE0657). According to the Real Estate office at Hill Air Force ~ a s e ,his propertycontained a gas beacon light for the runways. Nothing else was located on the site &d thebeacon was relocated when the property was transferred (L. Johnson, July 199 9).c. Parcel 3 was acquired from the Department of the Army by transfer fiom OgdenOrdnance Plant by letter dated September 1, 1955. The transfer was effective April 1, 1955(CE0 657). This property containing 0.457 acres, more or less, was conveyed to the C ity ofRiverdale by Quitclaim Deed dated January 30, 1964, and recorded on March 30, 1964 inBook 769, Page 674 (CR 02 14). It appears that this property may have been used by the Cityof Riverdale for a reservoir (CE1292). According to the Real Estate office at Hill Air Fo rceBase this property was acquired as a buffer zone for buildings on adjacent property whichcontained ordnance (L.     No additional buildings w ere located on the site. The hillside containing the water tanks isbordered by residential housing (Photograph Nos. 8 and 9).     FINDINGS OF FACT1. Hill Military Air F ield was activated on November 7, 1940 and was operated by Ogden AirDepot as a maintenance and supply depot. Although Hill Air Force Base is still an active facility ithas been determined that three peripheral properties have been excessed .a. Parcel 1 was acquired fiom the Department of the Army by transfer fiom Ogden OrdnancePlant by letter dated September 1 , 1955.

    b. Parcel 2 was acquired from Chloe Harris by Declaration of Taking Civil No. C-28-53 filedFebruary 26, 1953. Portions of this property were previously held under Lease W2972-eng-937,W04-203-eng-3350, and W04-193-eng-2552.

    c. Parcel 3 was acquired from the Department of the Army by transfer from Ogden OrdnancePlant by letter dated September 1, 1955. The transfer was effective April 1, 1955.2 . Hill Field was activated on November 7, 1940 and was operated by Ogden Air Depot as a

    Based on the foregoing Findings of Fact, this site has been determined to be formerlyused by DoD. It is therefore eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program- Formerly Used Defense Sites established under 10USC 2701 et seq.
