Mercedes Corral at Mission ClassicHighlight of Monterey Car Week!
SFBA MBCA will be sponsoring a MERCEDES CORRAL at the Mission Classic Car Show this year on August 22nd, the Wednesday of the 2018 Monterey CarWeek.
The Mission Classic combines an elegant collection of notable and interesting cars, a gourmet food bar, wines from several local wineries, all on the beautiful andhistoric grounds of the Carmel Mission.
SFBA MBCA Members can participate in the Mercedes Corral, located directly in front of the Mission, for $135.00 ($15.00 savings), for one car and twoadmissions. Members can also purchase single admissions, without corral parking, through the Mission Classic web site.

Legends of the Autobahn Returns August 24th
Legends of the Autobahn, the all-German Concours, returns to Monterey Car Week on August 24th. San Francisco Bay Area section members are invited todisplay a Mercedes at this must-see event!
For 2018, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America celebrates 35 years of the W201 models with a special display. The Mercedes-Benz W201 marked the firstchapter in the history of the C-Class. Today, the W201 models are celebrated as young classics by MBCA members from coast to coast. In addition, theMercedes-Benz Classic Center will exhibit automobiles from their collection.
The Legends of the Autobahn event features a judged Concours, Silver Star Preservation class, and display-only Corral. For event information and to register yourclassic Mercedes-Benz, visit https://mbca.org/legends
First Sunday Drive - Volunteer Needed
Due to surgery, our July First Sunday Drive leader will beunable to take on the drive. I would like to ask for anyvolunteers who are willing to fill in his spot to message theFSD director by Monday, June 18 so that the July FSD willtake place. If we don't have a volunteer, the drive will becancelled. Leading a procession of beautiful Mercedes is anentertaining and rewarding experience, with a great viewon your rear-view mirror to boot!

On May 12th, we held our section's 60th Anniversary Event at Mercedes-Benz of Marin. TheSan Francisco Bay Area Section celebrated a milestone event on May 12, 2018, thesection's 60th Anniversary. Our section began on May 12, 1958 and has been strong andvibrant since it's inception, so of course we had reason to celebrate thisaccomplishment. But, this wasn't just any celebration. Mercedes-Benz of Marin, ourdealership partner hosted 75 section members to a cocktail reception in the showroom andpulled all the stops to make certain that we celebrated in grand style and that it would be amemorable event, which is was. Our members haven't stopped talking about the event!
We had member vehicles parked in the showroom, which included two 300SL Gullwings, onein a beautiful navy blue and the other in a gorgeous gray color. Thank you Speno Family andTom Thornhill. We also had 2 vintage Benzes, a 1960 white 220S cabriolet owned by GloriaLoventhal and Richard Pederson and a 1965 dark blue 300SE owned by Marilyn and PaulDrews. The Drews' vehicle has been previously featured in the STAR magazine. Wecontinued to recognize various vintages with new member, Gary Pieroni displaying his verylow mileage 1977 240D, along with longtime members David and Becky Hunt's 1985500SEC and Andy Chan's 1989 300CE. However, the event didn't just include Mercedes-Benz eye candy, but lavish food and drinks, generous swag bags and a welcoming staff thatwas at our disposal.
Not only did we have cars, food and drink, old memories and new ones being made, but wewere also fortunate to have former section members Shawn and Bob Merrill fly in from Hawaiito attend this very special event wearing their beautiful lei's and making certain that everyonefelt the spirit of "Aloha". Shawn and Bob currently live in Hawaii and are active in that section.Dave Hunt, a longtime member shared some section history and talked about his parents300SL Gullwing. Dave and his wife Becky, along with his parents, Chad and Barbara Huntwere active in the section's leadership for many years. Central California section President,Kathryn Splivalo and Secretary, Mike Splivalo also joined the festivities. Allen Wrenn,immediate past Western Regional Director was also in attendance. Audio Repairs
We all love our cars except when something breaks and then the under thebreath muttering begins. Whether it's a mechanical issue, tires, brakes orelectronics, the hunt to find the right repair facility begins. Hence, the networkamong our 800 members, and what continues to keep this network going aremember experiences and referrals of repair facilities used. Just recently oneof our longtime members experienced an audio problem with his 1992 MBZand brought it to SoundWave Mobile Electronics located at 860 Branston Rd.in San Carlos, CA. (650) 593-7676. Our member advised that SoundWaveMobile Electronics was able to address his issue and provided superbworkmanship. This is also supported by independent reviews online.
