CONGRATULATIONS TO YSGOL DERWEN...

The Welsh Government recently released

a new method of colour coding and rating

schools. Ysgol Derwen has achieved high-

est Green/Category 1 rating which has

been awarded to only 201 out of 1332 pri-

mary schools in Wales.

A school achieving the highest rating is described as a school which:

• Has a track record of sustaining a high level of outcomes

• Know themselves well and identify and implement priorities

• Demonstrates resilience at all levels

• Are rewarded with greater autonomy

• Will be challenged to move towards or sustain excellence

• Have the capacity to lead and contribute to support

Mr. Jones, the head teacher of Ysgol Derwen has acknowledged this

proud achievement has been made possible due to the dedicated

and committed staff and Governing Body, the wonderful engaged

pupils and the help and support received from parents.

memory of a loved one and their names

will be read out during the Songs of Praise

service on Easter Sunday evening and also

Kinnerton Cricket Club…...

Well the new season is nearly upon us now and practice sessions in the Nets will commence on

Sunday 12 April at 11am to which everyone is cordially invited. All kit is provided and you will

all be made very welcome. This season we are playing in the Chester and district mid week

Can You Inspire?

Are you bursting with energy and ideas? Are you

most at home in a room full of people, helping

bring out the best in them? Good. Then you'll do

nicely as a volunteer manager for our Scout

Group. No, you don't need to have been a Cub

or Scout, and we promise to support you every

step of the way. The Kinnerton Group Scout

Leader role isn't about attending meetings every week, it's about leading and

supporting the other Leaders to run the Beaver, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer

groups here in the village. If you think you've got what it takes and would like

What we do.

Every year across the UK Scouts helps 450,000 young people enjoy new ad-

ventures; to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence

Higher Kinnerton Indoor Bowls Club

The Indoor season has closed on Wednesday 25th March. The new season will start

Wednesday Evening September 9th from 6.30pm to 9pm and every Wednesday Evening

thereafter till April 2016.

The AGM will be on Tuesday 1st September 2015 at 7.30pm in the Blue Room. We need

your support for a new committee.

Congratulations to the 4 Bowls Singles Competition Winners held in February, The Ladies was won by Silvia Smith whilst the Mens

was won by Gary Caulfield who was also the overall winner. The Tuesday League Team have played 18 games Won 8 Lost 10 and

have ended 8th in the League. We look forward to a better season next year and thanks go to those who organize it.

The Club will be celebrating it's 25th Anniversary this year by going for lunch on the Chester Canal Trip in June. New members are

always welcome. You don't need to have played Bowls before, come and give it a go next season. Contact Geoff (660721)

APRIL 1990.

Some things don't change….. :)

Youth Club - The youth club would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the youth club disco on March 2nd. In view of the damage to the Village Hall, it has been decided to dis-continue the discos until at least Au-tumn.

Kinnerton Scouts - Between April 1st & April 5th both wheels were stolen from the Scout Group trailer. This is not the first time this has happened.

Car Boot sale to be held on Sunday May 13th. Tables £4 in advance or £5 on the day.

All Saints Church - Is looking for an advertising co-ordinator for the Parish magazine. Anyone interested, please contact Mrs A.M Morris, Bridge Farm.

Kinnerton Whist Club.

Don’t know how to play Whist but enjoy a game of cards???. Come along, watch and learn

for free. All ages welcome and wheel chair friendly. We meet every other Wednesday at

7.30pm in the Blue Room (Village Hall). If you can play Whist we only charge £2 to cover the

cost of the room , refreshments and prizes. For further information please phone Kathy on

Lyn Randles.

Pauline and Alison wish to thank friends and neighbours for their kind mes-

sages of sympathy and cards for Lyn Randles who died 1st March 2015 aged

56. All donations received will be sent to Severn Hospice.

Doreen Williams.

The family of the late Doreen Williams of Park Avenue wish to express their

thanks for all the kind expressions of sympathy shown to them in their recent

bereavement. Donations made in lieu of flowers raised £350 for The Macular

Society. Doreen had lived in the village all of her married life and helped de-

liver the village newsletter for over 25 years."

Kinnerton Community Craft Group.

The group is open to all Kinnerton ladies of all ages. We meet on the

first Friday of every month in the Village Hall at 13.30. A small charge

of £1 is made to cover costs. Join us to share your skills or learn new

ones.

Dog Walking in Kinnerton and Flintshire

HKCC have recently received a request to allocate an area of the village for

dog owners. Whilst we appreciate a lot of residents are dog owners we do

not have the powers or land to be able to accommodate such a request.

Dogs are not allowed on the recreation fields even whilst on a lead and even

if you are responsible and pick up any dog poop, as toxic germs can still be

present and cause harm to children playing in the area. The green space at

the bottom of Kinnerton Heights does permit dogs off the lead and many

villagers allow their dogs to run freely on the railway line however please be

mindful that livestock may be in the fields adjoining the railway line so

make sure you are fully in control of your animal.

We are very lucky to be surrounded by fields with an abundance of footpaths but it can be frustrating that there are

signs everywhere asking you to keep your dog on a lead. However this only applies to when livestock are in fields. The

Flintshire rural walks booklet advises please ensure that your dogs are under control at all times and please clear up

after them. Please make sure your dog is kept on a short lead near livestock at all times and take particular care during

the lambing and calving seasons. Cows are very protective of their calves and can chase dogs. Please do not allow your

dog to disturb wildlife. Take particular care during the bird nesting season (March-July) A copy of the booklet can be

found on the FCC website. Search Parks and Countryside. It lists many of the public rights of way in Flintshire .In the

meantime enjoy discovering the Footpaths around the village responsibly.

Community Charge.

Everybody should have a council tax notification by now... just to clarify that HKCC voted to keep the community council

tax at £27000. So no change to last year or the two years previous to that. Your form will show a slight reduction which is

down to more households paying council tax in the village, so the £27000 is spread over a wider number. The HKCC strat-

egy is to keep the tax burden as low as possible whilst seeking out grants and funding from other sources to pay for capi-

tal projects such as Bennetts Lane corner, new park equipment and village facilities. Hope that helps. Regards HKCC
