Course outlineCourse outline There are three themes in Higher Spanish:
Lifestyles, Education and Work and The Wider
World.
Within each theme are several topics, each of which
will developed through listening, speaking,
writing and reading exercises. Special attention
will be paid to the various grammar points which will
come up throughout these exercises.
Topics and sub-topics will contribute to essaysessays. Each
essay title will contribute to speaking assessment as
well as prepare you for the external assessments.

You will watch a Spanish film and read several
texts, in Spanish, related to that film.
You will be asked to write about the film,
replying to several bullet points.
We will devote one double period per week to
ER/V after the summer break.
We will complete the writing NAB for ER/V by
Christmas.
Home and additional studyHome and additional study
You will be given additional work to do after most lessons.
This will consist of finishing class work, reading tasks, listening tasks, writing up essays, translation exercises, grammar revision, vocabulary work in preparation of class work...
As well as finishing off or preparing work for class, you should make time for additional study (see handout)

SPEAKING – presentation on topic of choice; follow-up discussion. 25% of overall mark, also external assessment (March)
LISTENING – 1 text 2-3 minutes; responses in English; played up to three times (before prelims)

WRITING – presentation and follow-up discussion on content of film and texts studied (December)
