Dear friends, When you read this letter, the Hebrew month of ELUL, known as “the month of answered prayers,” will be over. Elul started August 7 through September 4, 2013. During this time the Jewish people seek forgiveness and see wonderful answers to prayers. The Jewish teaching instructs them to read Psalms 27 twice every day. Daily, I have sat and read those 14 verses in Psalms 27 out loud over the High Adventure staff and partners, as a prayer covering for you. v.1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life, whom shall I be afraid?” v.4 “One thing have I desired of the Lord, and that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life.” Psalm 27 is so beautiful and exemplifies how the Lord has provided for us as the shepherd and keeper of our souls! For many years I have personally kept a prayer list and prayed for special needs and people. High Adventure has had great answers to prayer for others. This month, seven people on my list have accepted the LORD as their Savior! Prophetically, it is exciting to see what I believe is a new move of God in our land. The Hebrew New Year (5774) begins September 5, 2013. Tishrei is the time that the Jews believe we humble ourselves before God and give sacrificial offerings. He examines our lives and determines our path for the upcoming year. It is a spiritual time of ‘open heavens’ and rewards for our deeds. Rosh Hashanah, in the month of Tishrei, is followed by fasting and repentance on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year. The Feast of Tabernacles is a celebration of the creation of the Jewish nation and God’s provision when wandering forty years in the wilderness living in tents. As we honor God in the month of Tishrei, it sets our lives on a path of miracles, favor, and provision in serving Him. Beloved partners, I pray the Lord opens a special portal for you. May the Lord favor you and may the windows of heaven open for you! He is ready to pour out financial blessings we cannot contain. Scripturally, we see the windows of Heaven open three times: First, when God sees our good works (offerings and gifts) (Mal 3:10). Secondly, in time of great famine in the land ( Kings 7:19). Thirdly, in time of great judgment, Noah and the flood (Genesis 7:11). I believe you are going to see a wonderful OPEN HEAVEN and experience great miracles. The same God that continues supernaturally to provide for us all through years of serving Him, has seen your gifts and love for Israel. Believe with me that God favors the work of this ministry with continued provision, and we all have blessings we cannot contain. May the Lord gaze upon High Adventure and our partners with love and provision, and strengthen each of us in our dedication and service to Him. “One thing have I desired of the Lord, and that will I seek after…” Psalm 27:4 P.O. Never before in the history of the nation of Israel, have the Jewish people reached out to Christians for their prayers and friendship!

August 21, 2013Dear Jackie and the wonderful High Adventure partners,

Thank you for supporting the Israel Defense Forces Soldiers Widows and Orphans in Israel. A child losing a father or mother, a spouse losing their mate, a mother grieving the loss of a son or daughter, we know first hand what it means when the Word of the Lord says, ‘Comfort ye, comfort ye my people.”

In just a few more weeks we will be sending the orphans of IDF Soldiers to camp. It is a time of healing, special fellowship and sharing together, each knowing they are not alone. We have made a difference in the lives of these precious people, who have lost so much.

Being a High Adventure partner myself for over twenty (20) years, it is one of the most cherished and efficient ministries serving Israel in the earth today. Thank you for broadcasting hope and reaching out to the needy people in Israel. I pray that you and the partners will be blessed of the Lord, and He will lift up His beautiful countenance upon you.

Shalom!

JUST IN FROM ISRAEL (An email from Gilad): Yes, Margie, it is true. Currently there are talks about war with Syria, reserves have been called up and gas masks are being handed out in the mall. I just picked up a gas mask for my 3 week old baby. This is the reality of living in Israel. Please continue to pray for us! Many Blessings, Gilad.

GEMS from GENEVIEVE...Dear friends and loved ones,

We celebrated my 98th birthday with two big parties—one at the Senior Center for lunch and one at Friendship Manor for dinner. It was my best birthday ever! I received so many beautiful cards and gifts. I wish I could write or phone each of you, but I am just unable to do that at this time. Thank you so much for everything – I love you all!

This has been a very difficult time for my family. They have kept me in their homes for many years, but my doctor said I could no longer be left alone. I have special needs, and, sadly for them, they agreed to my going to a long-term care facility. It is called Friendship Manor. I have a lovely room and a roommate that I love. I am cared for and happy to be here. When Jackie was trying to find a place, she saw in her mind a piano. When she visited here for the first time, she asked if they had a piano. They have three! I played for them one time during dinner, and now they ask me to play three times a week. I play the old hymns and the people respond.

My circumstances here brought a song to mind: “Brighten the Corner Where you Are.” Do you remember that old song? We used to sing it so often. Jackie researched it on Google and found it was written by Ina Duley in 1913. Ina had wanted to join the Great Chautauqua Revival circuit and preach. However, her father was stricken with paralysis and she could not leave his side. It was during this time that she wrote this wonderful song which became Billy Sunday’s theme song. Billy had over one million in his services listening every day. The theme of the song is: DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR GREAT MOMENT – LOOK RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE AND CHEER SOMEONE UP TODAY! Do you see God’s great mercy? By my being in this long-term facility, He is able to give a “last chance” call to many who may never have had the opportunity to hear of His great mercy. I remember when Howard Richardson, at one of High Adventure’s partner breakfasts, gave me a prophetic word… “You are going to live a long time and you are going to have a new ministry.” So, here I am… trying to “brighten the corner” where I am.

Please read (sing along if you know the tune) these words, and let’s all “brighten the corner” wherever we are:

Please write or visit me!

Do not wait until some deed ofgreatness you may do,

Do not wait to shed your light afar,To the many duties ever near you

now be true,Brighten the corner where you are.

REFRAIN:BRIGHTEN THE CORNER WHERE YOU ARE,BRIGHTEN THE CORNER WHERE YOU ARE,

SOMEONE FAR FROM HARBOR YOU MAY GUIDE ACROSS THE BAR,

BRIGHTEN THE CORNER WHERE YOU ARE.

At this very moment, High Adventure Ministries cannot stress enough how critical the time is to STAND WITH ISRAEL. Tensions are escalating in the Middle East at a rapid pace. Experts are claiming that this could actually be the build up to a another world war. Even as we write this, our friends in Israel are rushing to distribution centers in order to secure gas masks. Now more than ever, we must rally behind God’s chosen people and pray for protection, wisdom and guidance on her behalf. There has never been a more important time to support Israel.

It is time to remind us all of our Biblical mandate to STAND WITH ISRAEL—Genesis 12:3 “And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all nations of the earth be blessed.” History has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the nations that have blessed the Jewish people have had the blessing of God. The nations that have cursed the Jewish people have experienced the curse of God.

Paul recorded in Romans 15:27: “For if the Gentiles have shared in their (the Jews) spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them also in material things.” Christians owe a debt of eternal gratitude to the Jewish people for their contributions that gave birth to the Christian faith.

It is not possible to say, “I am a Christian,” and not love the Jewish people. The Bible teaches that love is not what you say, but what you do (1 John 3:18).

While some Christians try to deny the connection between Jesus of Nazareth and the Jews of the world, Jesus never denied his Jewishness. He was born Jewish, He was circumcised on the eighth day in keeping with Jewish tradition, He had his Bar Mitzvah on his 13th birthday, He kept the law of Moses, He wore the Prayer Shawl Moses commanded all Jewish men to wear, He died on a cross with an inscription over His head, “King of the Jews!” Jesus considered the Jewish people His family.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love thee” (Psalm 122:6). The scriptural principle of prosperity is tied to blessing Israel and the city of Jerusalem.

Why did God the Father select the house of Cornelius in Caesarea (Acts 10) to be the first Gentile house in Israel to receive the Gospel? It is clearly because Cornelius was a devout man who feared God with all of his house. He supported the Jews by paying alms, and he prayed to the God of Israel always. It is important to note that God chose Cornelius because he was a Godly Gentile. Cornelius expressed his unconditional love for the Jewish people in a practical manner. He was divinely selected by Heaven to be the first Gentile house to receive the Gospel and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

We support Israel because all other nations were created by acts of men, but Israel was created by an act of God! The Royal Land Grant that was given to Abraham and his seed through Isaac and Jacob with an everlasting and unconditional covenant (Genesis 12:1-3, 13:14-18, 15:1-21, 17:4-8, 22:15-18, 26:1-5 and Psalm 89:28-37).

High Adventure must rally now in our support of Israel. Pray without ceasing. Do whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do in this critical hour. We need you now. Israel needs us now more than ever before.
