• Founded in 1995, First AmericanScientific Corporation (FASC) isindustrial equipment manufacturer andprovider of innovative systems thatincrease profitability and reduce theenvironmental impact of materialsprocessing.

• The KDS Micronex™, FASC’s patentedgrinder-dryer, efficiently andeconomically processes a wide variety of raw materials and wastes into fine, drypowders.

• KDS stands for KineticDisintegration System. The KDSMicronex™ is an high volumegrinder that dries WITHOUT needing any heat input.

• No heat is needed because theforces causing size reduction alsodry the material.

• KDS Technology uses LESS totalenergy than conventional dryingand grinding combined.

include:

Benefits of the KDS Micronex™

Simplifying on-site grinding and dryingoperations into a single compact, andeasy-to-operate system that has lowinitial and operating costs

Creating high-quality, dry, virtuallypathogen-free powders that have valueas industrial feedstocks, fuels, fertilizersand animal feeds.

Reducing transportation and disposalcosts by reducing moisture

Raw material is dropped intothe throat of the mill

An air-lock gate reduces dustand eliminates blow-back

The KDS MICRONEXTM Process Flow

Material moves to the Torus andis subjected to repeatedviolent collisions with thespinning rotor and strike plates

Material is fractured andpathogen destruction occurs

Water vapor and waterdroplets are released duringthe fracturing process

• Patented process mechanicallyseparates gold and avoids the use of toxic chemicals.

• Gold stays in KDS chamber when goldore (quartzite) is ground to 30 microns.

• Waste rock is conveyed out of KDS.

Zeolite is used in fast drying concrete mixtures

Glacial Clay is used in cosmetics, face creams.

KDS Micronex™ Applications

Zeolite, Glacial Clay, Coal

• Two kinds of Paper Sludge –Primary/Secondary (P/S) Sludgeand De-inking Sludge

• P/S Sludge comes from wastewater from paper pulp-making. Hasbacteria. MC = 80 %

• Deinking sludge results fromrecycled paper manufacturing. It is25% clay (kaolin). MC = 50 %

KDS Micronex™ Applications

Paper Sludge

• Both kinds contain burnable fiber, but are too wet to burn on grate or in dust burners.

• Both can be directly applied asfertilizer, but this can lead torespiratory problems and water pollution.

• Paper Sludge is usually landfilled at$17-35/mT + $0.1/mT/kmtransportation cost.

KDS Micronex™ Applications

Paper Sludge Comparison

• Drying sludge reduces landfill costs.

• Dried paper sludge can be used tomake sound-absorbing material,cattle-bedding.

• Dried paper sludge is burnable ingrate or dust burner.
