Explain of Hi-pot test circuitThe test equipment include a transformer having a

sinusoidal output, for our inspection this voltage is adjusted to the voltage required in protocol.

A current tester system is existed in the equipment to calculate breakdown current, for our inspection we must set up limited of breakdown current which is obtained form protocol.when calculated current out of limit, alarm system will cut off voltage output and alarm.

Operation procedureOperation procedure

Verify the equipmentCheck this tester visually for any physical damage,

correctly/promptly connection and suitable power source.

Turn the Power Switch to ON, turn the voltage to the lowest position.

Press the “Start” button, and set the voltage at a low value.

Short circuit the two probes, alert activate, OK. If no alert activate, try to ask the factory change another tester.

First internal check product to detect construction and determine where need to conduct Hi-pot test:

All accessible metal part ready to become live during normal operation (see note i)

 Output of transformer or adaptor

 Assemble gap

Note I: normal operation including:

a) Replacing a lamp;

b) Removal or cleaning of all parts not secured by use of tools

Hi-pot test time must keep on 1 second,do not only strike probe on inspected sample.

When Hi-pot test is failed at required breakdown current on protocol, try to recheck with max setting of equipment and call back to office.

For European product, sometimes different voltage will be applied on product, for example class I product with class II construction, these two type of class need different voltage.

Since output voltage of Hi-pot tester is always exceed 1000V, all operation must obey safety rule.

How to present the result? How to present the result?

If breakdown was found, visual check the product and find the reason (needn’t to open the unit), then record the defect as critical defect. For example:

Hi-pot test was failed when test on lampholder at 1200Vac,30mA (max setting of Hi-pot tester)

Note: Both workmanship and on site test should be failed on this case.
