    ON-GOING RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS:(Please see the Town website, www.townofbethlehem.org for details including recycling FAQs)

    Antifreeze: Bring to local radiator shops. Never leave at an unattended service station.

    Batteries Household: NOTE - Rechargeable batteries are now mandatory recyclables per

    DEC law. Collection boxes throughout Town for rechargeable, lithium, button, computer, and

    cell phone batteries. Throw alkaline batteries into regular trash.

    Batteries Vehicle: Trade in for a new battery, or bring to a scrap metal dealer in Albany.

    Cell Phones: Recycle at Town Hall or Highway Garage, or return to your cell provider.

    Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFLs): Town Hall & Highway Garage during normal hours. Electronics: Computers, TVs, etc. can be recycled FREE year-round at the Transfer Station.

    Fluorescent Bulbs: Highway Garage during normal hours or Household Hazardous Waste Days

    on 5/5 & 9/22 (bulbs contain mercury).

    Mercury Thermostats: Most old, non-digital thermostats contain large quantities of mercury!

    Bring to the Highway Garage, or check with your HVAC company.

    Motor Oil: Bring to service station or large retailer of motor oil. Maximum is 5 gallons per

    person, per day. Never leave at an unattended service station.

    Propane Tanks: Rupert Road Transfer Station. 20 lb tanks: $3/ea; 16.4 oz canisters: FREE

    Only Town of Bethlehem residents and registered Town businesses may participate.

    Proof of Residency is a valid New York State Drivers License or current town tax bill. Keep wastes in their original labeled containers. Tighten lids and pack securely in a cardboard box. Never mix chemicals.

    Wrap leaking containers in newspaper and place in plastic bag or container. DO NOT smoke near chemicals or leave product in a hot, unventilated vehicle for an extended period o

    For your SAFETY, please stay in your car. Workers will unload the material.
