Private Châteaux of the Pays de la Loire7th – 12th May 2013
Staying as house guests of Comte Guy de Vanssay and his American-born wife, Marnie, at the well-restored Château de la Barre, we will enjoy the unspoilt beauty and heritage of the Pays de la Loire. During this tour only private properties will be visited. Members will have the entrée to a number of little-known châteaux, with receptions hosted by the owners, as well as visits to picturesque villages and lovely private gardens. We will meet for the first night in Paris, with a visit to Chartres Cathedral on the way to Château de la Barre the following day. Please apply early as space is limited.

Houses & Gardens of Southern Ireland9th – 15th September 2013
The handsome Georgian capital of Dublin is our starting point for a delightful tour of Irish country houses, with virtually all visits by special appointment or personal invitation. We shall assess the typically Irish qualities inherent in the decoration, furnishing and lovely landscape setting – or demesne – of a number of historic homes. Members will be received by owners for lunch on most days and occasionally for dinner. This is a unique opportunity to experience the magic and mystery of Ireland, and to witness the interesting progress in the restoration of several major houses.

This short break offers a private view of a number of sumptuously decorated patrician palaces of the Renaissance and the Seicento. Members will visit palaces which are rarely, if ever, open to the public and admire magnificent art collections acquired by noble Roman families, still displayed in their original setting. In addition to receptions at private homes, we will dine at an exclusive club, by special introduction. There will also be an excursion, to include lunch at a private castle. Our hotel is in the heart of Renaissance Rome, close to the Piazza Navona – the ideal location for the cognoscenti.
