Hi Parents!

I wanted to introduce myself, since I will be working as a guidance counselor

here through the end of this school year. My name is Rebecca Holtz. I went

to Penn for undergrad as well as graduate school; I graduated from the

Graduate School of Education’s Counseling and Mental Health Program this

past May. Through internships and previous jobs, I have extensive experi-

ence counseling students individually and in groups, teaching classroom

guidance lessons, planning and implementing positive behavior interven-

tions and supports, and leading school-wide events. I will be working with

students with last names A through L here at Herbert Hoover Elementary

School. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children!

Please note: The school day at Herbert Hoover Elementary School begins promptly at 9:10 a.m. Be-

cause your children’s safety is very important to us they are not permitted to enter the school building

before 8:55 a.m. Children may not be dropped off in front of the school to wait outside before 8:55 as

there is no adult supervision.

Any child reporting to school after 9:10 a.m. must report to the office accompanied by a parent or

guardian, signed in and receive a late slip to report to class.

For the safety of your children we are asking for your cooperation with these procedures. We are con-

cerned that many parents are simply dropping their young children off in the morning when no adult

supervision is available, thus creating and unsafe situation. Parents must be responsible to sign their

children in and make sure they enter the building safely. This is especially true since all doors in the

building will be locked at 9:10.

Herbert Hoover Elementary has partnered with Family Service of Langhorne to provide our students

with even more supports. If you think your child can benefit from in-school counseling therapy for is-

sues related to anxiety, depression and disruptive behaviors, just to name a few, then Family Services

counseling may be very helpful. We are fortunate to have a therapist at Hoover meet with students

once a week. In order to qualify for this free service, your child must have a Medical Assistance Card.

Unfortunately, commercial insurance is not accepted at this time in our school-based program. Your

child must only have Medical Assistance. Please contact Christie Wood or Rebecca Holtz, Hoover’s

Guidance Counselors, for more information.

You can also call Family Services directly at: (215) 757-6916 ext. 159
