Clinical Pharmacy
Daniel T. Wagner, R.Ph.,
Pharm.D., MBA, Herbalist, CBM
Objectives
• Describe the multi-factorial state of
wellness and optimal nutrition
• Define “integrative” pharmacy practice as a
fusion between allopathic drugs, natural
medicines, nutrition and energy medicine
• Contrast the effects and side-effects of con-
comitantly taking both medicines
• Describe 20 leading alternative products on
the American market- risks vs benefits
DISCLOSURE STATEMENT
• The presenter for this activity has been
required to disclose all relationships with
any proprietary entity producing health care
goods and services, with the exemption of
non-profit or government organizations and
non-health related companies.
• No significant financial relationships with
commercial entities were disclosed by any
of the speakers
Health : A Multifactorial State of
Wellness
• Goals:
– state of personalized well-being
– balancing stress
– optimal cognition
– less trouble with illness
– dietary improvement
– harnessing personal & family quality of life
The Targets of Optimal
Nutrition
• Optimal Biochemical Balance
• Improving Resistance to Microbial Insult
• Xenobiotic Protection
• Managing Stress…..without Stress
• Reducing Chronic Degeneration
• Wellness & Rejuvenation
What is “Integrative Pharmacy
Practice”
• What does
‘alternative” really
mean…..
• The fusion of natural
medicine, nutrition,
and frequency
medicine in relation-
ship with allopathic
medicine.
• Focus on educating
the public about
disorders, nutrient
depletion for more
comprehensive mgt.
• Informed self-care
• Allow the pharmacist
to play a larger role
(with physician) in the
healthcare process.
Reductionist vs Integrative
• Allopathic medicine was formed during the
time medicine wanted to be specific and
understand cause and effect- 100 years ago!
• 1930s: AMA instituted different approaches
toward disease & illness and applied a strict
definition of legitimacy based on which
approaches were supported by reductionist
science. Systems not supported by this
approach were eliminated from the canon.
Canon of Health Care
• “There is one cause, one disease, and one
treatment.” “A bacteria is a bacteria is a
bacteria……kill it (antibiotics)
• Reductionist science dictated that if medical
schools wanted funding & authority to grant
licensure, they converted.
• The ‘toolbox’ for cancer was established:
surgery/radiation/chemo was called the
‘standard of care.’
Mary Buninger, M.D.
“Since the 1950s, we’ve landed on the Moon,
created cordless tools, put satellites in space,
developed computers and the Internet,
invented MTIs and PET scans, made DNA
fingerprinting a courtroom standard, and
mapped the human genome. Yet we have
come no closer to winning the WAR ON
CANCER.”
Integrative Approach
• Cancer is a syndrome, not one disease, so
there is more than one way to treat it.
• Not everyone has the same ‘cancer.’
• Integrative practitioners are moving the
viewpoint forward, and there protocol
reflect the idea that cancer can require many
approaches. It is the element of a large
cookbook of protocol options, not any one
element always brings success.
Achieving A Nutritional Baseline
• Macronutrients
– Water
– Proteins
– Carbohydrates
– Fats
• Micronutrients
– Vitamins
– Minerals
– Antioxidants
– Phytochemicals
Wellness Lifestyle

• 4.7 beer
• 7.8 bottled water
• 8.4 filtered tap water
Reasons to Avoid an Acidic pH
• Corrodes arteries, veins, heart tissue.
• Accelerates oxidative stress
• Causes the GI tract (gut) to be more acidic
creating ideal environment for
microorganisms
• Inhibits metabolism of energy reserves.
• Inhibits cellular regeneration & DNA.
• Inhibits oxygenation of tissues.
Best Ways to Alkalize
• Drink water
• Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
• Consume more SuperGREENS (e.g., kale,
spinach, spirulina, chlorella, green algae)
• Minerals
• Lemons
• Limes

ideal weight, cholesterol metabolism, and
general sense of vitality.
• Use in caution with Synthroid/levothroid
Antioxidants
Benefit your body by neutralizing free radicals.
Free radicals are unstable, short-lived molecules
that contain an unpaired electron in their outer
shell. They boost immune system, increase
oxygen to body (neutralize oxidative stress).
The most commonly known antioxidants are
Vitamin C, E, Beta Carotene, and Selenium.
Others include: quercetin, alpha lipoic acid, NAC,
lutein, melatonin, CoQ10, copper, lycopene,
manganese, carnosine, rutin, grape seed, soy, L-
glutathione, zinc and green tea.

What is the ETAscan?
• ETAscan is a BioEnergetic assessment,
visualization, and normalization device that
can aid the balance and return of the human
body to its natural form and function. ETA
scan provides powerful & useful
visualization of the energetic conditions of
the body’s physiology. Patients can see
where there are energetic blocks in their
body are, what the nature of the imbalances
may be.
How does the ETAscan work?
• ETAscan is based on the knowledge of
quantum effects on biological systems.
Every organ and cell has their own distinct
oscill-ation or wave frequency pattern
which is stored in the ETAscan memory
bank. Each graph represents the conditions
of the info exchange between the tissue and
the environment. The database is complied
for healthy tissue based on age and gender.
ETAscan
• Based on recognition of algorithims,
ETAscan can give indications of
unbalanced tissues, food sensitivities,
pollutants, allergies, bio-energetics,
hormonal balance, homeopathics, emotional
causes, pathology, parasites, micro-
organisms, and chakra imbalance.
• It displays similar matching wave functions
as predicting ascending order of importance
and occcurence.
