Design

▪ Wafer-type design: suitable for clamping between pipeflanges or dead-end service at full operating pressure

▪ Single-piece (up to DN 500) or two-piece (from DN 600)body with integrated flange seal

▪ Short face-to-face length to EN 558-1/20

▪ Non-rising stem

▪ Non-rising handwheel

▪ Blade made of 1.4571 up to DN 400 as a standard

▪ Confined U-shaped seal made of EPDM

▪ Transverse seal with gland packing

▪ Robust yoke for actuator mounting as a standard

▪ All steel and grey cast iron parts epoxy-coated to protectagainst corrosion (200 µm), colour: RAL 5015, blue

▪ The valves satisfy the safety requirements of Annex I ofthe European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC (PED)for fluids in Groups 1(b) and 2.

▪ The valves can be used in potentially explosiveatmospheres, Group II, category 2 (zones 1+21) andcategory 3 (zones 2+22) to ATEX 94/9/EC.

Product benefits

▪ All grey cast iron and steel components are protectedagainst corrosion by high-quality epoxy coating.

▪ Robust and compact steel mounting yoke forstraightforward mounting of pneumatic and electricactuators and position switches. A hard anodisedaluminium NAMUR adapter plate attached to the actuatorallows proximity switches or solenoid valves to be quicklyinstalled (plug & run).

▪ Reliable and service-friendly stem seal: The gland packingis made of PTFE impregnated fibre and can be re-adjustedduring operation. There is no need to remove the valvefrom the piping to replace the packing.

▪ High functional reliability and tight shut-off in both flowdirections.

– The stainless steel blade is polished on both sides andguided by a confined U-shaped seal during the entirevalve travel. This prevents "chattering" of the bladeand minimises the risk of deposits.

– Flushing corners in the body ensure the seat is flushedclean when the valve closes.

▪ Suitable for universal use. Flange connection via tappedblind holes and throughbolts enables the wafer-type gatevalve to be clamped between pipe flanges or used asdead-end valve at full operating pressure.

▪ Economical

– The valve is available in a single-piece (up to DN 500)or two-piece body design with full bore providingunrestricted flow passage. The body is fully machinedinside, resulting in a tight fit of all components, verylow pressure losses and high flow coefficients.

– As a standard feature, O-rings are integrated into thebody and serve as flange seals. This helps to saveextra costs for providing and fitting external flangeseals.

Installation instructions

HERA BD is bi-directional, i.e. flow may pass the valve in eitherdirection. Installation as dead-end valve at full operatingpressure without counterflange is permissible. Observe themaximum operating pressures for the respective nominal sizes.Due to the O-rings integrated into the flange faces no furtherflange seals are required.
