WHO ARE WE? We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about Hepatitis C and B, providing free Hepatitis screening tests to the public and improving access to costly but curative treatments for Hepatitis C in Malaysia.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) are highly prevalent in Malaysia. It is estimated in Malaysia there are about 250,000 adults who are HBV carrier (less in children because of vaccination) and another 400,000 people have been infected by HCV. Untreated, HBV and HCV will lead to liver cirrhosis and cancer, which kill 1500 and 1750 people respectively each year in Malaysia. Recent medical advances have made HBV treatable and HCV curable.

SCREENING FOR HEPATITIS C AND B Besides raising awareness about Hepatitis, HFP is committed to providing FREE screening test to the public. The public screening campaign will be initiated in the Temerloh District of Pahang, and thereafter in in Kuantan, Bentong, Raub and Jerantut.There are 2 ways to access this FREE Hepatitis screening service: Walk-in to any participating Clinics or Pharmacies near you. Attend any campaign events organized by HFP.

TREATMENT FOR HEPATITIS C AND B Despite being treatable or curable, access to HCV and HBV treatments are limited in Malaysia. HFP is therefore committed to assisting people who are found to have Hepatitis through our campaign to receive the medical treatments they need: HFP will help eligible patients to obtain reimbursement from the relevant payers such as SOCSO, JPA,

private health insurance and EPF Account 2. HFP will help finance the Hepatitis C treatments of those who are truly poor HFP will also advocate for positive changes to our health policies (third party financing, drug

procurement & pricing, etc) to improve everyone’s access to the treatments they need.
