At the end of the day, the most
overwhelming key to a child's
success is the positive involvement
of parents.
Jane D. Hull
It is our Goal to:
1. Maintain our high passing rate and increase the number of students who exceed in reading and math.
2. Close the achievement gap for all our subgroups.
3. Increase our writing scores on the 5
th grade state
writing assessment by concentrating on using a fluid writing plan from K to 5
th grade.
4. Continue to celebrate the rich diversity of cultures in our school.
5. Teach, plan, and assess collaboratively on grade levels through a standards based approach.
6. Embrace our innovative practices based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence with our new conversion charter school model.
HFCE
Hickory Flat Charter Elementary has high expectations for all
stakeholders. We believe when the staff, students, parents and
community work together and give their personal best we will
succeed at the highest level. We believe that this cooperative effort to
provide a balanced educational program that meets the needs and
enriches the lives of our students through cooperative effort between
the home, school and community is vital.
Parent Involvement Standards
Henry County Title I Schools and our parents
have adopted the National PTA Standards for
Family-School Partnerships as the school’s
model in engaging parents, students, and the
community. These standards are:
1. Welcoming All Families
2. Communicating Effectively
3. Supporting Student Success
4. Speaking Up for Every Child
5. Sharing Power
6. Collaborating with Community

How Can YOU Get Involved? Throughout the school year, activities are planned that involve parents, students and staff. These activities are designed to strengthen the relationship between the school and
families along with providing information to parents to ensure the success of their child. We have an open campus where we encourage parent involvement with all activities.
