INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the Omron® HEM-670IT Wrist Blood PressureMonitor with Advanced Positioning Sensor (APS®) and PC Software.

The Omron wrist monitor uses the oscillometric method of blood pressuremeasurement. This means the monitor detects your blood’s movementthrough the artery in your wrist and converts the movements into a digitalreading.

Clinical research has proven a direct relationship between blood pressurein the wrist and blood pressure in the arm. Changes in wrist bloodpressure reflect changes in arm blood pressure because the arteries in thearm and wrist connect.

The software included with this monitor can help you provide importanttrending information for your physician of changes in your blood pressure.

BEFORE TAKING A MEASUREMENT

To ensure a reliable reading follow these recommendations:

1. Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising and bathing for atleast 30 minutes before taking measurement. Rest for at least 15minutes before taking a measurement.

2. Stress raises blood pressure. Avoid takingmeasurements during stressful times.

3. The cuff can be applied to your left or rightwrist.

4. Measurements should be taken in a quiet placeand you should be in a relaxed, seated position.

5. Remain still and do not talk during themeasurements.

6. Keep a record of your blood pressure and pulse for your physician. A single measurement may not provide an accurate indication of yourtrue blood pressure. You need to take and record several readings overa period of time. Try to measure your blood pressure at the same timeeach day for consistency.

IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT SYMBOL ( )

When the monitor detects an irregular rhythm two or more times duringthe measurement, the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) will appear on thedisplay with the measurement values.

An irregular heartbeat rhythm is defined as arhythm that is more than 25% slower or 25%faster from the average rhythm detected whilethe monitor is measuring the systolic bloodpressure and the diastolic blood pressure.

If the irregular heartbeat symbol ( )displays with your measurement results, werecommend you consult your physician.Follow the directions of your doctor.

The American Heart Association1 recommends the following guidelinefor upper limit of normal for home blood pressure readings:

AHA Home Guideline for Upper Limit of Normal BPSystolic Blood Pressure 135 mmHg

Diastolic Blood Pressure 85 mmHg

This is a general guideline because blood pressure depends onage and morbidity. The AHA recommends a lower home bloodpressure goal for certain patients, including diabetic patients,pregnant women, and patients with renal failure1.

The monitor is not intended to be a diagnostic device.

The Morning Hypertension Symbol is displayed if the morning averagereading for a week is above 135 for the Systolic Blood Pressure valueand/or 85 for the Diastolic Blood Pressure value when viewing theMorning Averages and the Evening Averages in the memory.

HEARTBEAT SYMBOL ( )

TAKING A MEASUREMENTThe Heartbeat Symbol flashes on the display during themeasurement. The Heartbeat Symbol flashes at every heartbeat.

When the measurement is complete, the Heartbeat Symbol flashes onthe display with your blood pressure and pulse rate if the reading isabove 135 for the Systolic Blood Pressure value and/or 85 for theDiastolic Blood Pressure value.

USING THE MEMORY FUNCTIONThe Heartbeat Symbol flashes when the blood pressure reading storedin the memory is above 135 for the Systolic Blood Pressure valueand/or 85 for the Diastolic Blood Pressure value.

AVERAGE VALUE SYMBOL ( )

The Average Value Symbol is displayed when you press the MEMORYbutton. The most recent average reading appears on the display screen.

MORNING AVERAGE SYMBOL ( )

The Morning Average symbol is displayed when viewing MorningAverages using the Memory Function.

The Evening Average symbol is displayed when viewing EveningAverages using the Memory Function.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

1. Press the ( ) indicator on the battery coverand slide the cover off in the direction of thearrow.

2. Install 2 “AAA” size batteries so the + (positive) and - (negative) polarities match thepolarities of the battery compartment asindicated.

3. Replace the Battery Cover by sliding the coveras illustrated until the cover clicks securelyover the battery compartment.

When the Low Battery Indicator appears on the display screen turn themonitor off and remove all the batteries. Replace with two new batteriesat the same time.

NOTES: • Turn the unit off before replacing the batteries. Measurementvalues stored in the memory are not deleted during batteryreplacement.

• When the batteries are replaced, you may need to reset thedate and time. If the year is flashing on the display screen,refer to “Setting the Date and Time” Section.

• The supplied batteries may have a shorter life.

SETTING THE MEMORY FUNCTION

The Monitor stores up to 84 sets of measurement values (blood pressureand pulse rate) with the date and time. When 84 sets of measurementvalues are stored in the memory, the oldest record is deleted to save themost recent measurement values.

The monitor is designed to store the measurement values for one person inthe memory. If more than one person uses this monitor, we recommendsetting the Automatic Memory Function to OFF.

1. TO CHANGE THE SETTING

Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off, then press the SET button.

The Auto Memory Screen is displayed with the current setting. Theunit is set to ON at the time of purchase.

2. SELECTING ON OR OFF

Press the ( ) button to change the settingto OFF.

Press the ( ) button to change the settingto ON.

3. CONFIRM THE SETTING

To continue to change other settings, press the SET button to confirmthe Memory Function you selected. The TruRead™ Screen isdisplayed.

SETTING THE TruRead™ FUNCTION

The TruRead™ Mode takes three consecutive measurements. Themonitor will inflate, take a measurement, and deflate three timesseparated by a short interval of time between each measurement.

Note: The default setting is OFF, which means the monitor is set to theSingle Mode to take one measurement.

When the TruRead is set to ON, the INTERVAL TIME can be set to 15,30, 60 or 120 seconds.

Note: When the Automatic Memory Function is set to OFF, theTruRead™ function can not be set to ON.



Press the SET button again.

The INTERVAL TIME is set to 60 at the timeof purchase.

5. CONFIRM THE INTERVAL SETTING

SETTING THE ADVANCED POSITIONING SENSOR

The Advanced Positioning Sensor (APS®) will assure you the unit is in thecorrect position level with the user’s heart before the monitor starts to takethe measurement. When the APS Sensor is set to ON, the SIGNAL can beset to ON or OFF. When the SIGNAL is set to ON, the monitor beepswhen correctly positioned.

The alarm can be set to sound twice a day to alert the user to take ameasurement. The alarm can be set to AM or PM alerts. The alarm is setto off ( ) at the time of purchase.

NOTES:• Press any button on the monitor to stop the alarm.

• The alarm will automatically stop sounding after 2 minutes.

• The alarm will not sound when the monitor is in use; setting themonitor, taking a measurement, using the memory or using the graphfunction.

Set the monitor to the current date and time before taking a measurementfor the first time. If the date and time are not set correctly, themeasurement values stored in the memory will have the wrong date andtime.

Set the date and time in the following situations:

1. Before you use the monitor for the first time

2. After battery replacement

3. After resetting the monitor

APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF

APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF ON THE LEFT WRIST

1. Roll up sleeve. Make sure your sleeve is notrolled up too tightly on your arm. This mayconstrict the flow of blood in your arm.

2. Wrap the cuff directly against your skin.Do not apply over clothing. Place the cuffover your left wrist with your left thumbfacing upward.

3. Position the cuff leaving a clearance ofapproximately 1/2 to 1 inch between the cuffand the bottom of your palm as illustrated.

4. Hold the bottom part of the cuff and wrap it around thewrist so it fits comfortably and securely around yourwrist.

1) Open the [System] folder inside the folder in which you installedthe Omron Health Management Software.

Gracias por adquirir el Monitor de presión arterial de muñeca con sensor deposicionamiento avanzado (APS®) HEM-670IT de Omron ® y software para la PC.

El monitor de muñeca Omron emplea el método oscilométrico para lamedición de la presión arterial. Esto significa que el monitor detecta elmovimiento de la sangre a través de la arteria en la muñeca y conviertedicho movimiento en una lectura digital.

Las investigaciones clínicas han demostrado que existe una relacióndirecta entre la presión arterial de la muñeca y la presión arterial delbrazo. Los cambios en la presión arterial de la muñeca reflejan cambios enla presión arterial del brazo debido a que las arterias del brazo y de lamuñeca están conectadas.

El software incluido con este monitor puede brindarle informaciónimportante a su médico acerca de tendencias en las variaciones en supresión arterial.

ANTES DE TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN

A fin de garantizar una lectura confiable, siga estas recomendaciones:

1. Evite comer, tomar bebidas alcohólicas, fumar, hacer ejercicio ybañarse durante al menos 30 minutos antes de tomar una medición.Descanse durante al menos 15 minutos antes de tomar una medición.

2. El estrés eleva la presión arterial. Evite tomarmediciones en momentos de estrés.

3. Se puede colocar la banda para la muñeca tantoen la muñeca izquierda como en la derecha.

4. Las mediciones se deberán llevar a cabo en unlugar tranquilo, mientras está sentado yrelajado.

5. Quédese quieto y no hable durante lasmediciones.

6. Lleve un registro de su presión arterial y del pulso para que lo vea sumédico. Es posible que una sola medición no brinde una indicaciónprecisa de su verdadera presión arterial. Es necesario tomar variasmediciones y registrarlas durante un período de tiempo. Trate de medirsu presión arterial todos los días a la misma hora para obtener medidasconsistentes.

Cuando el monitor detecta un ritmo irregular dos o más veces durante lamedición, aparecerá en la pantalla el Símbolo de latido irregular ( )con los valores de medición.

El latido irregular se define como un ritmoque es más del 25% más lento o más del 25%más rápido que el ritmo promedio que sedetecta mientras el monitor mide la presiónarterial sistólica y diastólica.

Si se muestra el símbolo de latido irregular( ) con los resultados de su medición, le recomendamos que consulte a su médico.Siga las instrucciones del médico.

La Asociación Estadounidense del Corazón (The American HeartAssociation) 1 recomienda los siguientes valores como límite máximo deuna lectura normal de presión arterial tomada en el hogar:

Pautas de la AHA para la medición doméstica de la presión arterial normal máxima

Presión arterial sistólica 135 mmHg

Presión arterial diastólica 85 mmHg

Ésta es una pauta general dado que la presión arterial depende dela edad y el estado de salud de la persona. La AHA recomiendaque el resultado de la medición hogareña de la presión arterialsea más bajo para ciertos pacientes, como pacientes diabéticos,mujeres embarazadas y pacientes con insuficiencia renal 1.

El monitor no está destinado para ser utilizado como dispositivo dediagnóstico.

CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓNEl símbolo de latido parpadea en la pantalla durante la medición. Elsímbolo de latido parpadea ante cada latido del corazón.

Una vez que se complete la medición, el Símbolo de latido parpadeaen la pantalla junto con la presión arterial y el pulso si la lectura essuperior a 135 para el valor de la presión arterial sistólica y/o 85 parael valor de la presión arterial diastólica.

USO DE LA FUNCIÓN MEMORIAEl símbolo de latido parpadea cuando la lectura de la presión arterialalmacenada en la memoria es superior a 135 para el valor de lapresión arterial sistólica y/o 85 para el valor de la presión arterialdiastólica.

COLOCACIÓN DE LAS PILAS

1. Presione el indicador ( ) que aparece en lacubierta de las pilas y deslice la cubierta en ladirección que indica la flecha.

2. Coloque 2 pilas “AAA” de modo que laspolaridades + (positiva) y - (negativa)concuerden con las polaridades que se indicanen el compartimiento de las pilas.

3. Vuelva a colocar la tapa, deslizándola como semuestra en la ilustración hasta que quedecorrectamente ajustada.

CAMBIO DE LAS PILAS

Cuando el indicador de batería baja aparezca en la pantalla, apague elmonitor y retire todas las pilas. Cámbielas simultáneamente por dos pilasnuevas.

ADVERTENCIAEn caso de que el fluido de las pilas entre en contacto con los ojos,enjuague de inmediato con abundante agua limpia. Consulteinmediatamente a un médico.

NOTAS: • Apague la unidad antes de cambiar las pilas. Los valores demedición que se almacenan en la memoria no se borrandurante el cambio de pilas.

• Al cambiar las pilas, es posible que necesite volver aconfigurar la fecha y hora. Si el año parpadea en la pantalla,consulte la Sección “Configuracion de fecha y hora”.

• Las pilas de obsequio que vienen con la unidad pueden teneruna menor vida útil.

El monitor almacena hasta 84 conjuntos de valores de medición (presiónarterial y pulso) con su fecha y hora. Una vez que se guardan 84 conjuntosde valores de medición en la memoria, el registro más antiguo se borrapara guardar los valores de medición más recientes.

El monitor ha sido diseñado para almacenar los valores de medición deuna sola persona en la memoria. Si el monitor fuera utilizado por más deuna persona, recomendamos configurar la función memoria automática enOFF (Apagado).

1. PARA CAMBIAR LA CONFIGURACIÓN

Presione el botón START/STOP (Inicio/Detener) para apagar el monitor, luego presione el botón SET (Configuración).

Se muestra la pantalla de memoria automática con la configuraciónactual. La unidad está configurada en ON (Encendido) al momento dela compra.

2. SELECCIÓN DE ON (ENCENDIDO) U OFF (APAGADO)

Presione el botón ( ) para cambiar la configuración a OFF (Apagado).

Presione el botón ( ) para cambiar la configuración a ON (Encendido).

3. CONFIRME LA CONFIGURACIÓN

Para cambiar otras configuraciones, presione el botón SET(Configuración) para confirmar la función de memoria seleccionada. Semuestra la pantalla TruRead™.

Si no necesita realizar otros cambios, presione el botón START/STOP(Inicio/Detener) para apagar el monitor.

El modo TruRead™ toma tres mediciones consecutivas. El monitor seinfla, toma una medición y se desinfla tres veces con un breve intervalode tiempo entre cada medición.

Nota: La configuración predeterminada es OFF (Apagado), lo quesignifica que el monitor está configurado en modo individual paratomar una medición.

Cuando la función TruRead está configurada en ON (Encendido), elINTERVALO DE TIEMPO se puede establecer en 15, 30, 60 o 120segundos.

Nota: Cuando la función de memoria automática está configurada enOFF (Apagado), la función TruRead™ no se puede configurar enON (Encendido).

El sensor de posicionamiento avanzado (APS®) le asegura que la unidad seencuentra en la posición correcta respecto del nivel del corazón del usuario antes decomenzar a tomar la medición. Cuando el sensor APS está configurado en ON(Encendido), la SEÑAL se puede configurar en ON (Encendido) o en OFF(Apagado). Cuando la SEÑAL está configurada en ON (Encendido), el monitoremite un bip cuando llega a la posición correcta.

COLOCACIÓN DE LA BANDA PARA LA MUÑECA ENLA MUÑECA IZQUIERDA

1. Súbase la manga. Asegúrese de que la mangano esté muy ajustada al brazo. Esto puedereducir el flujo de sangre en el brazo.

2. Coloque la banda directamente sobre la piel.No la utilice sobre la ropa. Coloque la bandasobre su muñeca izquierda con el pulgarizquierdo hacia arriba.

3. Coloque la banda dejando un espacio de 1/2 a1 pulgada aproximadamente entre la banda yla parte inferior de la palma de la mano comose muestra en la ilustración.

4. Sostenga la parte inferior de la banda y envuélvalaalrededor de la muñeca para que quede cómoda yajustada.

• Doble y ajuste el sobrante de la banda hacia laderecha tal como se indica. Si no lo ajusta, noafectará la medición.

2) Copie y pegue el archivo [omron.mdb] en el escritorio o en unaubicación de almacenamiento.

CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO

Para mantener el monitor de presión arterial digital en buenas condicionesy proteger la unidad para que no se dañe, siga estas instrucciones:

Guarde el monitor en el estuche cuando no lo esté utilizando.

No pliegue el sujetador de muñeca con demasiada firmeza. El cierre de tela podría tocar la superficie interna del sujetador y dañarlo.

Limpie el monitor con un paño seco y suave. No use limpiadoresabrasivos o volátiles. No limpie la banda.

PRECAUCIÓNNo sumerja el dispositivo ni ninguno de sus componentes en el agua.No someta al monitor a temperaturas extremas altas o bajas, humedado luz directa del sol.

PRECAUCIÓNGuarde el dispositivo y los componentes en un lugar limpio y seguro.
