Hello to our Macksville Public School Community Principals Report
Teacher Planning
This week our teachers have spent some time working together looking at their STEM (Science; Technology;
Engineering and Maths ) learning activities. Our Term 1 theme is ‘Belonging’, with each class have a driving
question to guide their learning. For example; Year 4’s question is, ‘How can we change a space in our
school to create a sense of belonging for all’.
A lot of our classes have school beautification projects as part of their STEM focus. It’ll be
great to see the results of these projects at the end of the term.
Roof update
Thank you to all community members for you cooperation during our roof replacement.
The old hall roof is nearly finished with the next building
to be replaced being the brick building downstairs This
building houses the Year 2/3, Year 3 and Year 4
classrooms. During construction these classes will be
working in other class spaces around the school.
Director Visit
Today our school director Mr John Baker stopped in for a
visit. John was impressed with the work ethic and
behaviour of our classes. Great work Macksville! It’s
always a pleasure having John come to our school.
K-2 Tennis
Our K-2 students have been enjoying playing tennis on
Friday’s. It’s great to see these students trying hard and
improving their hand eye coordination.

so through our MPS school website. Go to the $ Make a

It’s almost that time of year again when our favourite Bunny visits. Our Annual Easter Hat Parade and Easter Raffle are fast
approaching. A reminder to MPS Families to start construction of their fabulous Easter Hats and also a big
thank you to those families who have made donations to our Easter Raffle. Our wonderful P&C are also still looking for any community members who may be able to
help with the making or raffle books or the wrapping of our wonderful prizes.

Library News On Monday, Kindergarten had a trial run of borrowing a practice book to take home! I ask all Kindergarten parents to help their child keep the practice book safe and return it to the school library on their library day (Monday) so that they are able to borrow a real library book on Monday 12th March! Please ensure that your child has a library bag to keep their books safe, with their name clearly marked on it. If your child needs a library bag, the school library sells library bags, kindly made by Colleen, for only $3. Below are just a small collection of the variety of library bags that
you can buy from the library. ~ Sarah Pade - Library Teacher
Schools Cup Netball This carnival for Stage 2 & 3 boys & girls will
be held at Marion Wood Netball Courts in

members will receive their notes by Friday 9th
to be returned early the following week please.
Thank you. ~Mrs Ronan & Miss Harradine
Sports Report With a wet and soggy start to week six let’s hope it doesn't cause
too much disruption to the sports calendar. We are hoping to start
cross country practice this Thursday. We have changed the time
from Friday so it doesn't clash with the tennis program on Friday.
Good luck to those boys who are attending the Rugby League
District Trials on Friday at Coronation Park. Our cricket side is
through to round two and will play Bellingen next Tuesday here
at Macksville. It is though dependent on weather. Good luck to all
of our sports people.
Girls Rugby League has been Cancelled and will be
rescheduled for Term 2. In the case of further wet
weather, Students will be notified by their Teacher
the day before the event. Also keep a look out for
notifications on our Skoolbag app.
BELONGING & CONNECTING STEM PROJECTS We need to raise some money!
Years 2, 3 and 4 are doing STEM projects based on our theme of ‘Belonging and Connecting’. We are designing our own areas to make them better places and fixing the gardens in our school. To raise money we will have a mufti day and everyone will bring a gold coin. We will also have a cake stall and the cakes will be priced from 50c to $2. These exciting things will both be happening on Wednes-day the 14th of March and the cake stall is at recess. We will also be looking for some ’experts’ to help us carry out our work later in the term. If you think you might be a useful gardener, builder, painter or decorator please let the Stage 2 teachers know! By Lachlan Crossingham and Charlie Perkins ~ 2/3 Aqua
2/3 Aqua in our chosen area - stay tuned to see the ’after’ pics!
Our class is also working on the structure of narratives in our creative writing. These stories all have an orientation, a complication, a resolution and a conclusion!
