From the Principal….
Hello Sunshine!!!! On Saturday the sun finally decided to reappear after two very long weeks of grey dominating the sky. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those who have been impacted by the floods. We warmly welcomed the return of the sun, as did all of our Mary’s Munchkins on Monday. Every Monday from 9am - 11am we host our “Mary’s Munchkins Playgroup”. All families in our local community with children aged between 0 and 5 years are invited and encourage to attend. Mrs Robin Whitton coordinates this program in our school and her passion and love of teaching children in the Early Years is felt by all those who attend our weekly Playgroup. Each week Robin organises a variety of hands on activities, encouraging the children to socialise with one another and to engage in imaginative play. Our Playgroup continues to grow from strength to strength and I thank Robin for her dedication and love of little people. Robin also LOVES coffee and the smell of fresh coffee wafts through the school each Monday morning and the Playgroup Mums and Dads enjoy a cuppa and biscuit. Please continue to spread the word about our wonderful Playgroup amongst our community.

Week 3| Term 1| 2019
On Sunday 17th February, we will be hosting our first “Family Mass” for the year. This is a wonderful opportunity for all families to attend our Sunday Mass and become part of our St Mary’s Parish community. During the “Family Mass”, our students adopt various roles including reciting the First and Second Readings, singing the Psalm, cantor singing, reading the Prayers of Intercession, processing with the gifts and altar serving. Thank you to all of the many families who have returned their permission slips. I look forward to seeing you all at Mass on Sunday. This year we will be offering all those children who have completed their Confirmation Program the opportunity to gain skills in order of becoming an altar server. I will communicate more information with you all in due course. We also will be running a ten week Confirmation Program with our Confirmation Mass being held on Saturday 10th August. A parent letter will be sent home in the coming weeks. Fr Thomas will be away for one month as he has returned to his homeland to visit family and loved ones. We wish Fr Thomas a very happy holiday and look forward to his safe return.

News from School Chaplain….Mrs Maltby Mary Our Help
The St Mary’s P &F Association
kindly donate the ice-cream for
this project and the Mini Vinnies
are very grateful. If parents could
donate spoons and cups that
would also greatly reduce our
expenses. All funds raised from the sale of ice-cream
supports the St Vincent de Paul Society who in turn
pass on the money to the Assist-A-Student programme
to educate an underprivileged child for one year.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Mrs Young’s Year 4/5 class have volunteered to
support the Townsville flood victims by baking and
selling small cakes through the tuckshop on Fridays.
