SAINT ANDREW

Scenic Old Masters Project of Saint Andrew inspired by Jusepe de Riberas original art-work produced between 1600 and 1625. The painting shows Andrew the Apostle with his diagonal cross behind him.

Scenic techniques used such as dry brushing and textured rollering to give depth to the background. Cooler hues were exaggerated within the background to compliment the warm hues of the skin tone.

Dimensions: 2000 x 2500mm Painted in Rosco Supersaturated colours

EARTHQUAKES IN LONDON

Written By Mike Bartlett Director. Cressida Brown Designer. Angela Davies

Concrete floor produced using Microcement and ink pigments. Microcement mix trow-eled over floor and sanded back in even layers. The textures imitating worn concrete were created with wire brushes and by plucking using floats. The gold crack running through the centre of the floor was routered out, before painted in warm, rich hues of deap red and orange before covered in a gold film attached using size. image 3 (right) shows the gold under stage lighting where colours can be scene to come through transparancy layer.

Inspired by Artist Doris Salcedo piece at the Tate Modern ‘Shibboleth’ Kingsuuky

Here you can see the Snow Queen floor taken from the workshop mesanine with the designers model to hand. The details of the icylines were all hand drawn to replicate Bronias model. Jenny Brushes were used in a ‘bleeding’ technique where colours joined seemlessly.

Stensils used for lettering in 3 sizes. Canvas attached to infinity curves during paint call using cyclorama glue.

For Her Naked Skins i focused on the break down of the window frames. The frames were textured using Artex then layered with emulsion paint using a ‘blocking’ technique. Washes of rust colours were then applied on top. Darker areas of rust featured in areas where rust would most likely collect such as on joins and on the undersides where water may collect. Sprayed to finish.
