Many pigments are produced from materials known as “heavy metals” such as Lead, Cadmium & Chromium, thanks to their ability to produce vibrant colours. However, these metals, even in relatively small concentrations, are toxic both to humans and the environment.

Although there are no regulations in place governing or restricting the use of heavy metals in pigments, Matrix Polymers has made the decision to develop and use only heavy- metal free pigments for our tank grade colours. The costs involved in research, development and colour matching to ensure our new pigments match the colour of our old, heavy metal based, pigments have been substantial but we feel that it was a worthwhile cost and are proud that Rotathene® rotational moulding powder has been heavy metal free in all tank grade colours since 2007.
