Safety GuidelinesGeneral Warnings

Before Installation

1. Unpack and remove the Metering Box from carton. 2. Check the equipment and report any damage to a Honeywell represen-

tative.3. The unit must be fixed to the wall by using no. 4 Ø 8 mm anchors (not

included).NOTE: Anchoring materials must be suitable for the mounting surface which must comply with all local codes.

Wiring

The unit needs a 230V 50Hz electrical connection. The electrical connection of the motorized valve must be provided in a professional plastic box IP54 or higher (not included). The motorized valve must be combined with a proper control system according to Country Laws in force. Power network has to be sectionable with a circuit breaker and secured with residual current device. If the unit is installed inside the apartment, power supply must be sourced from the apartment itself. On the contrary, if the unit is installed in common locals, it is supplied by a common central line.

A suitable ambient thermostat must be foreseen and connected by the Installer. The cable has to be 30 m long at maximum. If energy or water consumption must be read in a remote way, meters included in the unit must be connected to an M-Bus network.

DescriptionThe unit (once equipped with appropriate metering components, not included in the unit) allows the metering of the energy taken from the centralized system for the heating function.Consumption of heat energy may be read directly by viewing the appropriate meters installed within the unit (not included in the unit). If the meters are connected by means of M-Bus network, the supplier of energy may remotely read the meters for purposes of billing without the need for direct access to the unit. The unit allows to intercept the flow to the heating plant of the apartment thanks to a 2-way or 3-way by-pass motorized valve ON-OFF type (option) controlled by room thermostat (not included). Moreover the flow rate of heating plant can be regulated thanks to a static balancing valve (option) or a differential pressure control valve (option) and the heating lines can be insulated (option). Device doesn´t requires any maintenance.

WARNINGHoneywell Metering Box - Hydraulic Interface Unit must be installed by qualified personnel in accordance with the applicable regulations and IEE Regulations. The end user is not authorized to work on the unit. Any contractual or extra-contractual responsibilities of the Constructor is excluded for damages to people, animals or things caused by an improper use or by installation mistakes or special maintenance as well as by not qual-ified personnel intervention and, in general, by non-fulfilment of what indicated in installation, commissioning and operating instructions. The unit has 1 stub piece predisposition for following installation of metering components, and is not intended to work without these components. The unit is produced to work with Honeywell components (meters, according to their compatibility with the unit that must be verified in advance with Honeywell personnel).Honeywell take no responsibility for difficulties arising from failure to observe these instructions. Please read this manual before under-taking the installation.Upon completion of the installation, please hand these instructions to the user. These instructions should be retained for future reference.

WARNINGRisk of scalding!Metering Box must be placed in a protected space not accessible by unqualified people. It is risky to touch the pipes without any protection due to hot surfaces.

WARNINGRisk of electric shock or equipment damage! Before installation and any maintenance operation disconnect elec-trical supply.

WARNINGThe Installer has to check that unit fixing systems are suitable to mounting wall. This equipment must only be used for the purpose for which it was intended, improper use may be hazardous.

CAUTIONM-Bus and electrical supply cables must be separated in order to avoid any interferences.

CAUTIONAll electrical connection must be compliant with local laws, rules and regulations.End of cables not used must be protected.

CAUTIONIf the unit is installed in common locals and the connected thermostat is in the apartment, it must be avoided to connect directly the unit to the thermostat. It is recommended to place a 230V-24V AC trans-former between the unit and the thermostat.

Built-in installationThe unit has to be installed indoors in suitable ambient conditions (see tech-nical specification on page 4).The installer has to individuate the most suitable wall according to weight and overall dimensions indicated on page 4.

The position of the inputs and outputs must conform to the unit version (see list of versions).

CAUTIONBefore installing the internal components, the centralised and apart-ment systems must be cleansed and flushed to avoid fouling of the unit with impurities or debris from the pipe work installation proce-dures. The presence of impurities in pipes can be the reason for unsatisfactory working and can cause possible damages to unit components. Therefore it is very important to carefully flush pipes before installing.

CAUTIONWhen pipe connections to system and / or apartment are rigid, using connections flexible pipes is necessary in order to compensate mechanical and thermal stresses. The hydraulic connections must conform to the unit version. Please refer to the list of versions before.

InsulationOptional insulation shell is made by a rear and a front part that can be easily closed by a velcro fastener. In case of installation of a meter, to allow visibility of the meter display a round shape is already preformed on the shell for cutting.

CAUTIONSharp edges could cause injury.Don't bend the tube for dynamic balancing to the sharp angles - it may cause its crack. Before installation of any meter or valve wipe off the old washer, clean the sealing surface and use new washer (not included).
