Meet Our Amazing Trainers!

Terri Wertz 419-262-0055 Terri has been an instructor since 2003 and is now the Wellness Director. When she joined the YMCA, she was morbidly obese, weighing over 300 lbs. In 2003, she had gastric bypass surgery. With the support of several YMCA instructors and members she was able to change her life. She became a trainer, instructor, and coach for the YMCA of Greater Toledo to give back to the community that helped her so much when she joined. She specializes in Interval Training, a 30 minute efficient workout to start your healthier lifestyle. Give Terri a call and be part of something that over 150 of our members have found effective. Patta Murray 419-866-9622 Patta has been with the YMCA for 20 years and is currently the Fitness & Healthy Initiatives Director at the Wolf Creek branch. She has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science. She holds a strong belief that strength training can solve any and all problems. She especially enjoys being able to see grandparents being able to be involved more with their families and events because it shows they are strong. She believes in working with people and helping them reach their fullest potential when she trains with them. Kelley Bohman 419-350-9327 Kelly has been a Fitness Instructor for over 20 years and became a Certified Personal Trainer because she wanted to expand her knowledge and train people one-on-one but raising three children put a slight delay in her plans. Now that they are older, she has taken the "fitness leap." Her passion for living a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle coupled with her passion for helping people achieve things they didn't think they had the strength, endurance, or will-power to do makes her excited to work as a personal trainer. She enjoys teaching a variety of classes and is always willing to try new things to keep the body and mind challenged. She believes in alternating workouts through cross training and varying intensities to prevent injuries from creeping up; she believes in keeping the body guessing. Over the years she has taught a little bit of everything: water classes, stability ball, cycling, TRX, and all types of cardio/strength combo classes. Be sure to try out Kelley’s Bootcamp class! “With the proper encouragement and dedication, we can accomplish anything. Embrace the healthiest you!” Karen Geiser 419-866-9622 Karen became deliberate about fitness about 15 years ago when she raced triathlons. A persistent foot injury sent her into the water and it was through Aqua Jog classes that she realized that she loves working with older adults. This led her to become a Silver Sneakers instructor and a personal trainer through the World Instructor Training Schools (WITS). She has a supplemental senior fitness certification as well as multiple instructor certifications. Karen’s primary focus is working with the members 60 years old and up. Karen is a strong believer that physical activity in the form of deliberate exercise has profound and positive effects in a person’s ability to improve functional abilities. She enjoys helping people gain strength, improve mobility and balance, and enjoys greater self-confidence in their abilities.

Rene Mason Rene started at the Wolf Creek YMCA in 1997 when it was the Southwest YMCA taking fitness classes. She started her YMCA career in the early 2000’s with a certification to teach spinning classes and then added Group Fitness, Kickboxing, Turbokick, and personal training certifications along the way. She is currently a personal trainer and a group exercise instructor.
