Best Company Studies

The Great Place to Work™ Institute Australia is dedicated to building a better

society by helping organisations to transform their workplaces.

Our work is based on the major findings of more than 20 years of research - that

trust between managers and employees is the primary defining characteristic of

the best workplaces. We offer services and tools to help companies build trust

and become more effective organisations.

Each year, we conduct a detailed study of workplace culture across a wide range

of Australian organizations and publish the findings through a respected Media

Partner.

We share the results of this study with all participating organisations, and we also

identify and honour the ‘Best Companies to Work For in Australia’ in order to

recognise organisations in which employees are provided with a great work

environment, and to encourage other organisations to become great workplaces.

Companies are selected as a Best Company primarily on the basis of their

employees' responses to the Great Place to Work™ Trust Index™, a proprietary

employee survey developed by the Great Place to Work™ Institute.

Further information used for selection process is provided by completion of the

Great Place to Work™ Culture Audit©, a two part management questionnaire,

also developed by the Great Place to Work™ Institute.

We take pride in maintaining the highest level of integrity in our evaluation

process. Great Place to Work™ Institute and its media partners will only

publicise information about companies that are identified as great workplaces

and, in addition, only publicise positive aspects of each company.

Each year, the Great Place to Work(r) Institute produces Best Companies to

Work For lists, representing workplaces in 40 countries around the world.

These annual surveys are widely considered to be the most important and

comprehensive studies of workplace culture undertaken throughout the

world. ……ALSO READ OUT NEGATIVE BLOG COMMENTS

What is a Great Workplace? The Manager View From the Manager’s perspective, a great workplace is one where they: ACHIEVE ORGANISATIONAL OBJECTIVES; With employees who GIVE THEIR PERSONAL BEST; and WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM / FAMILY in an environment of TRUST There are nine ways – or practice areas – where leaders and managers create an environment of trust. Great workplaces achieve organisational goals by inspiring, speaking and listening. They have employees who give their personal best by thanking, developing and caring. And they work together as a team / family by hiring, celebrating and sharing. This fundamental model, confirmed by Great Place to Work through over 25 years worth of analysis of employees’ own opinions, is universal and consistent year-over-year, country-to-country. It applies not only to all organisations but to companies with diverse employee demographics. How Can Trust Be Measured? We look at TRUST through two lenses. We assess the culture of the organisation through answers provided on an employee survey, the Trust Index© survey, which is modeled on the five dimensions found in the employee view of a great workplace. And we look at the workplace through a Culture Audit©, organised by the nine practice areas in the management definition of a great workplace. This survey precisely measures the behaviours and the environment that forms the underpinning of world’s most desirable workplaces and successful businesses.
