The benefits of StudentBlue, especially when students use the University Health Center
How enrollment and billing work
How students can confirm enrollment to get their insurance card OR how they can waive coverage
About StudentBlue
Administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska
Includes health, dental and prescription coverage for 1 low rate
Enrollment and waivers are managed by Ascension Benefits & Insurance Solutions
Automatic Enrollment & Billing
International students and graduate assistants are automatically enrolled
Any other UNL student can voluntarily enroll on MyRed (enrolled for 3 or more credit hours)
UNL Student Accounts automatically bills the premium to students’ accounts
Dependent Coverage
Graduate Assistants can purchase dependent coverage at a very reasonable rate
Dependents must re-enroll for each coverage period

Insurance pays 100% of covered services, including:
University pre-enrollment health requirement immunizations & tests
Medical procedures
Annual exams
Visits with medical specialists - Referrals are not needed
Annual optometry exam and refraction
Laboratory tests
X-rays
Physical therapy
Counseling and psychological services

Prescription Benefit Summary
Benefits are maximized at the University Health Center Pharmacy

$5 copay for generic drugs
$30 copay for brand name drugs
Dental Benefit Summary
Benefits are maximized at the University Health Center Dental Office
$1,000 policy year maximum
Two dental check-ups and cleanings are 100% covered
Other covered services – No deductibles, but coinsurance does apply

Confirming Enrollment & Insurance Cards
Though international students and graduate assistants are automatically enrolled and charged for Studentblue,
In order to expedite mailing of their insurance card, they mustconfirm enrollment in StudentBlue via MyRed
They MUST have their current local mailing address in MyRed
If they do not confirm enrollment, their card will be mailed mid-September
How to Confirm Enrollment
Waiving CoverageInternational Students
International Students with qualified plans that offer equivalent coverage may apply for a waiver
Equivalent health insurance benefits must include:
• Unlimited medical benefits
• A policy year deductible no greater than $500
• Medical evacuation and repatriation benefits that match the coverage provided University students through Ascension
• Coverage for each semester when enrolled in class
Waiving CoverageGraduate Assistants
Proof of equivalent health insurance benefits under another insurance plan is not required for non-international graduate assistants
How to Waive Coverage
Important Information About Waivers
The insurance charge is non-refundable if they do not complete the waiver process by September 11, 2015
After a student submits a wavier, The waiver process is automatically completed The insurance charge is credited to their UNL student
account
Waiver applications must be completed for each coverage period Students will be sent a reminder to either confirm or waive
coverage for the Spring/Summer 2016 coverage period
