Youth Excellence& Leader: What is catching the attention of your youth?

Bahrain aims to attain economic growth by nurturing talent in schools and colleges. It recommends the

adoption of school and college wide enrichment to accelerate the development of unique talents,

magnifying their abilities to excel in specific field of specialization. This illustrates the importance of

educating the youth to strengthen their knowledge, learning, skill, competence and capabilities,

representing the growth of intellectual capital. Bahraini industry leaders express their concern about the

quality of education and vocational training initiatives. It is observed that they do not benefit the

Bahrainis, impairing excellence in their respective field of specialization, such as business management,

journalism, science, technology, mathematics, fine arts and crafts, sports etc.

Bahrain is an island country in the Persian Gulf. The history of Bahrain dates back to ancient

history. Bahrain was the central location of the ancient Dilmun civilization. Bahrain's strategic

location in the Persian Gulf has brought rule and influence from mostly

the Persians, Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Portuguese, the Arabs, and the British. Whilst the

country had closest economic relations with Indians or South Asians for the longest time, much more

than the Arabs themselves.

Bahraini people are ethnically diverse. There are at least 8-9 different ethnic groups of Bahraini

citizens. Shia Bahraini citizens are divided into two main ethnic groups: Bahrani and Ajam. Most

Shia Bahrainis are ethnic Baharna, the Baharna being descendants of the original pre-Islamic

inhabitants of Bahrain. The Baharna speak a variety of Arabic known as Bahrani Arabic.

The Ajam are ethnic Persian Shias. Bahraini Persians maintain a distinct culture and language, but

have long since assimilated into Bahraini culture; they tend to identify themselves as Persian

Bahrainis rather than Iranians.

Religions:

Current census data doesn't differentiate between the other religions in Bahrain, but there are

about 1,000 Christian citizens and fewer than 40 Jewish citizens.Muslims belong to the Shi'a

and Sunni branches of Islam. There are no official figures, but the Shi'a constitute 66-70% of

the Bahraini Muslim population.

Language – Alphabets:

Bahrani Arabic (also known as Bahrani and Baharna Arabic) is a variety of Arabic spoken

in Eastern Arabia and Oman.[3] In Bahrain, the dialect is primarily spoken in Shia villages and some

parts of Manama.

Foods:

Falafel: fried chickpeas (garbanzo beans) balls served with vegetables in bread.

Machboos: the national dish is rice topped with meat or fish and sometimes also a tomato sauce.

Qoozi (or ghoozi): grilled lamb stuffed with rice, eggs, onions, and spices.

INDEPENDENCE OF BAHRAIN: Bahrain Independence Day occurred on 15 August 1971, when

the country declared independence from the British following a United Nations survey of the

Bahraini population. The British announced the withdrawal of their troops east of Suez in the

early1960s.
