Vote as if your CHILDREN’S lives depended on it!

Opinion It was a busy week in Washington. Not a REALLY busy week, but not a quiet week. Business as usual – in every sense of the work. The most profound news came of Supreme Court Judge, Antonin Scalia’s, and death. The Judge had just returned from overseas travel and had complained of shoulder pain (left or right?). His private physician did an MRI but apparently found nothing specific. The Judge was known to have several chronic “illnesses” (NOS). After an evening of socializing at a private West Texas Ranch, he said he was tired and wished to “get some rest”. When he didn’t come down for breakfast, and after several calls, he was found dead, in bed, without signs of struggle, seizure, vomiting or distress. Because of the remote location of the ranch, it took several hours to locate a Justice of the Peace to evaluate the situation over the phone. The law enforcement officer found no sign of foul play. Scalia was pronounced dead over the phone, without an MDI to examine the body, - of “natural causes” with no autopsy. Scalia’s family declined an autopsy. The body was flown to Washington, D.C., embalmed and prepared for burial. To date, it has not been disclosed whether drug/toxicology blood samples were ever obtained. I have a problem with the conduct of this death scene. I am a physician – not a Coroner or Medical Death Investigator. I realize there are several different interpretations of the proper handling in this setting. Key issues include previous illnesses, (specifically) prior heart disease, prior thrombophlebitis, medications, allergies, recent insect or snake bites. Clearly I am not privy to this information and I respect the family’s profound grief and right to privacy. Here’s the problem:

Scalia was the most conservative justice on the bench He was 79 years-old and significantly overweight. Obama was & continues to be the most lawless and liberal president in

America’s history. The Court had been a source of annoyance, injunctions and challenges to

Obama’s Legacy Actions & Executive Orders, including ObamaCare, Contraception, Abortion, Rights of Religious Conscience, Amnesty, Clean Power Plan, and Immigration Reform (amongst others).

The Congress was clearly becoming resistant to his Executive Action Abuse.

Executive Action, however, seemed his only recourse to finish his Legacy. Time was running out. Scalia’s death created a Court which was better fit for his needs and perhaps

created a pathway for his agenda. True: Obama is permitted to nominate a replacement for Scalia True: The Senate is permitted to vote or not vote on his nomination. Supreme Court Judgeships are life-time appointments. If either or both Judge Ginsberg and Judge Kennedy became disabled, and if

Hillary Clinton were to win the presidency, she might nominate two more liberal judges to the bench, thus making it 6:3 in favor of liberals.

If you are REALLY a cynic: If the Supreme Court nomination was held over to the next president, and if Hillary were elected, she would be able to PARDON Obama and NOMINATE him to the Supreme Court.

All said, this suggests that there may have been motive. The ranch provided the

remote time and place for something sinister to happen. The death was un-witnessed. No blood samples, no autopsy. Within hours of Scalia’s death notice Obama was on the air-waves proclaiming his presidential right to name Scalia’s successor (show a little respect, Pal). Then Obama refused to attend Scalia’s funeral at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic Church in North America. For an alleged “Christian” President to refuse to attend the funeral of the senior-most conservative judge on the Supreme Court, a devout Catholic, at the most auspicious Catholic Church in the nation is antithetical to Christian sentiment and federal protocol.

With all due respect, it is a time to pause & reflect on Judge Scalia. It is also time to reflect on current life & times1. There is a matrix of ambiguity about this event. Against all odds I can’t sleep peacefully without a formal postmortem and blood analysis.
