The Sacrificial Role of WomenMen such as Torvald refuse to sacrifice their integrity. They

shall not ask for help or do anything they dislike because

of pride.

Meanwhile all women have to give up what they want and act

like mindless dolls for ‘the greater good’.

Quick Summary: Nora is being blackmailed by Krogstad who

works for her husband Torvald Helmer. Nora signed her

dead fathers name to get a loan of money.

Is it wrong to do something illegal to save the person you

love?

Nora – Act one

Nora is the protagonist of the story.

She is treated like a pet by her husband

(a songbird in particular).

To make him feel like a man, she acts

like a foolish, ignorant child.

She sacrifices her dignity, but why is the

question?

Post-Reading questions

Talk to Nora. Now that we’re done act one, give Nora a piece of

your mind. What do you think of her, her situation, her views,

her choice of husband, etc. Advise her what you think she should do.

Write all of this is the form of a speech or talk you would have with Nora, to her face. (I.E. Use the word YOU a lot)

Be detailed – looking for a page of writing here.
