PURPOSE & GOALSOur goal is for each camper to learn basicwrestling skills and the most current techniques taught by our experts.In addition,we will stress the importance ofself-discipline and mental toughness necessary to achieve personal success.Wewant each camper to understand thatwrestling is a multifaceted sport for whichall phases of preparation are necessary tobecome a champion.Basic skills,repetitivedrilling,aerobic conditioning,weight training,proper nutrition,goal-setting,stressand anxiety control are all emphasized atour camp.
STAFFOur instructors are our greatest assets.Wedo not bring in “big name”,high-priced clinicians who may have little or no interestin the growth of wrestling in this part ofthe country.Too often this is the case.Ourinstructors and clinicians consist exclusively of UNC Coaching Staff,localhigh school coaches,and current and pastUNC Wrestlers who were All-Americans.We care that you have a good experienceand learn.Our camper/clinician ratio willbe no more than 15:1,providing close personal attention to detail that is so important to the learning environment.

THE CAROLINA WRESTLING CAMPS
LOCATION & FACILITIESSimply put, “none better”. We believe that we can boast oneof, if not the finest facility in the country. The camp is heldon the beautiful campus of the University of North Carolina atChapel Hill. UNC features a gorgeous campus, outstandingathletic facilities, and beautiful surroundings. Richard Moll,author of Agenda to America’s Best Undergraduate Colleges,has called Chapel Hill “the best college town in America”.
The wrestling facility is located in the new state of the artEddie Smith Field house adjacent to Fetzer Field andCarmichael Gym. This indoor air-conditioned facility canhold over twenty mats and is conveniently located to campushousing and dining. Athletic trainers will be on hand at allsessions as well as a Gatorade representative supplying freeGatorade at breaks.
HOUSING & MEALSCampers will stay on campus in student dorms at UNC with24-hour supervision. Counselors and staff are assigned toeach floor. All meals are served at the campus-dining hall,which is a short walk from the dormitory. The food is excel-lent and campers can eat all they want.
TEAM CAMPJUNE 24 - JUNE 28The team camp is a combination technique spe-cific camp and competition camp. Your team willwrestle at least 10 dual meets. In between duals,wrestlers will be broken down into groups fortechnique instruction. Coaches will be able torequest specific clinicians to work with theirteams and request specific technique for theirrespective teams. You know better than anyonewhat your team needs are.
Our goal is to provide the perfect combinationof mat competition and wrestling instruction.The team camp is designed to provide yourteam with the opportunity to learn new tech-niques from our qualified staff, correct specificerrors or weaknesses that are occurring inmatch situations, enhance the team’s drilling andtraining techniques, and provide a competitiveenvironment for dual meets among teams fromNC, SC,VA, GA, PA, NJ, OH,TN and FL.

TECHNIQUE CAMPJUNE 20 - JUNE 24This camp is designed to meet the individual’s needs andwill provide significant individual instruction and teach-ing. It embodies a curriculum of concentrated teaching,drilling and practical application of the basic skills ofwrestling. Every facet of the sport is covered by ourexpert clinicians. Wrestlers will be divided into threegroups; beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Beginnerswill be exposed to the basics of wrestling; live wrestlingwill be limited. Intermediate and advanced groups will beexposed to higher levels of technique as well as properdrilling and more live wrestling. There will be a camptournament conducted on the last day.

CONDITIONING
“THE CAROLINA ELITE 50”INTENSIVE TRAINING CAMPJUNE 26 - JULY 3 • GRADES 8-12This camp will be designed and run by Coach Cary Kolat. This 8 day camp isfor the serious wrestler who desires to reach the next level, both in skill andtraining. It will be limited to the first 50 applicants. There will be NOREFUNDS. It is recommended that campers come in good physical condition.The camp will involve running, drilling, swimming, weight training, and livewrestling with members of the Carolina wrestling team. Campers will be taughthigher level technique, nutrition, and mental conditioning skills. This camp isnot recommended for beginners. Campers will train with UNC wrestlers.

ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOLCAMPJUNE 29 - JULY 1The primary purpose of this camp is to provide amedium for youth wrestling coaches to bringtheir team/club to learn and train together as agroup.Youth coaches will work with our trainedstaff to build a firm foundation of knowledge fortheir youth wrestlers attending the camp.Youthcampers will be taught commitment, dedication,and discipline principles consistant with thesport of wrestling. Clinicians are chosen for theirvaluable background in working with campers ofthis age level. Additional staff is on hand tosupervise when campers are not on the mats,such as in the dormitory, the dining hall, andback and forth to the wrestling facility.
